I dont know if its good offering up ideas, with how defensive some people can get when talking about the direction the series should take. IMO, they need to bypass the power attained in GT to be able to move forward, an idea I have is perhaps (in the same vain as future trunks) somebody could go back in time to Z and change something so that we're dealing with an alternate reality. One where more adventure can be had and the limelight can be shared by Trunks, Goten, Gohan, Pan and Uub. Don't bite my head off, its just a suggestion. What are your feelings toward any future anime/manga?

In another part of the universe? Or stick with earth? Problem for me with that is it still has to have antagonists, and those antagonists still have to be hard hitting.

I can think the series can easily keep going. They just introduced 11 other universes

Most preferably on other planets. New antagonists, new heroes, and of course there will still be dragon balls.

After the probable Vegeta movie, if they want to continue the series, it's time to tell Oob's story. He was a new character introduced in the end of the manga as future protector of earth, generating a lot of possiblities for future stories. Even then, they keep reusing the same old cast. People usually complain about "over-powered" characters in productions made after the end of the manga, so why not start with a brand new cast thats far from reaching it's limits in terms of strenght? The final two chapters of Dragon Ball presented a status quo change with a potential new cast, but the same cast from before is still being reused to death.

As much as I like Goku and Vegeta (and as much as i would like to see some minor side stories with the supporting cast), it is about time to give the spotlight to those characters that appeared in the end of the manga and that didn't gain any development instead of the ones everybody knows.

Wouldn't make the title "Dragon Ball" make sense if there were no Dragon Balls, correct?

I would love a Goku jr and Vegeta jr if it werent for the fact that the Goku jr movie sucked.. hes too weak..
I wouldnt want Goku and the rest to get much stronger.. I mean he started with a powerlevel of 10 and grew up to the strongest person in the universe by an extraordinary amount, mostly from pure training.
So a new restart, with Goku and Vegeta jr would be nice. But a stronger version of them.. like 1000 base battle power at least..

^Exactly this. They already opened a ton of possibilites for future material.

All the saiyans are still in their primes post Z and have a lot of years left so I don't understand people's need for new characters. I don't want to see that and I bet most fans feel the same.

Not new characters, just utilize the characters that showed potential but were discarded as secondary in GT.

^The problem with that notion is that the series would be exclusively about fighting at that point in time, so it loses its substance, and what made it popular in the first place (which was the adventure aspect).

It also makes no sense how they're identical to people who lived several generations before them.

They could have a descendent of Goku's, but since the Saiyan blood is so diluted, Super Saiyan right off the bat for no reason makes no sense.

I actually wouldn't mind if the Super Saiyan meaning further down the road got lost, and the form itself actually becomes a bit of human-lore. It could accidentally become known as a Super Human. Of course, only people who have distant Saiyan lineage would actually have the potential of reaching it.

I can see the actual truth of the Super Saiyan as being an Alien's transformation getting lost after about 8 generations or so. Because if you want to consider it, how much do you really know about your ancestors eight generations ago? Almost nothing, I'm willing to bet.

The movie clearly set up the room for more material. My guess is Goku and company traveling the other dozen universes and fighting new villains etc.

I fear that even with Akira at the helm we will fall into the GT trap. GT was a product of the new wave anime trend that continues today. Long gone are the 80s / early 90s anime.

To be honest I think the problem is two things.

1.) Akira and the producers don't know what their audience wants now
2.) Akira has largely fallen out of love of DBZ.

The later of which is of real concern. In most interviews he has shown numerous times his rather lack luster enthusiasm for the material. He has openly admitted to forgetting the story cannon, even to go as far to forget there was 3 super saiyan levels.

Its the same reason that old musicians loose their magic. When you get older you loose the spark. Everything becomes a paycheck.

Perhaps introducing a whole new cast and setting the show 100 years in the future is the way to go (ie Legend of Korra). But for me personally the 9 season run of Dragon Ball Z will be a cherished memory of a special time. And anything else will be a mediocre replication.

If that were the case, I don't think he would still be doing things like stepping in to get involved with a new movie after DBE turned out horrible (partially because Fox ignored his input), writing an entire new story set as a prequel to DB (Jaco), and so forth.

Maybe he became tired of and disenchanted with DB back when he was still writing it, and had to deal with the frustrations of weekly deadlines and editorial meddling. But nowadays? He seems to enjoy how he still works with DB hands-on but doesn't have to do ALL the work like back in the day.

滅Are you frightened?

I think focusing on Uub is the best way to go, as well as Goten and Trunks. Goku, Vegeta, and even Gohan had their importance come and go, with Goten and Trunks can have support and leadership role for the future protector as he learns the way of heroism, saving the same world, his past self, destroyed.
