They just released a full-length trailer of it today: What do you guys think? I've learned to not have high hopes for anything that comes out. |

Bryan Cranston, Godzilla that actually looks and sounds like Godzilla, and a military that looks competent? I'm in. After what happened with the '98 Godzilla, I don't think they'd want to risk another shot at making a franchise out of him here (the States). They must have a lot of confidence in this one. The only thing I wish they'd have included in this one is King Ghidorah - the ultimate Godzilla enemy. |

Gareth Edwards expressed an interest in a sequel involving the moster island concept in Destroy All Monsters... If this happens, i hope they bring in some of the classic monsters. Mothra, Rodan, Gigan and obviously King Gidorah, all battling in CGI would be great. In the first one, tough, it's better for them to keep the focus on Godzilla and use some generic monsters for battling. If they hope to build a franchise, it's never good to cram to much classic characters in the first movie. The best thing is that it seems this movie will have a actually good plot. As much as i love rubber-monsters (now CGI) battling in the Toho movies, if everything is backed up by a good backstory, the destruction is much more enjoyable. Also, the cast is great. The main problem with Godzilla '98 is that the monster was not, well... Godzilla. It could be anything. They could've named that movie "Gigantis" or "Iguanus" and nobody would care. The movie itself was not awful, but using Godzilla as the title was a dumb move. This one seems to have fixed that... this new 2014 Godzilla looks great in the leaked images Edited by Topographic Oceans, Feb 26 2014, 04:32 PM.

Hm, you bring up a valid point. One thing some franchises have a problem with is using the main protagonist's arch-nemesis in the first movie, and then the film crew have to figure out how to top that. With this Godzilla, they're not using any of his more important enemies, which I suppose is a good thing. It'd suck if they used Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla or Mothra right away and then we get a second movie with...multiple crap third-tier monsters. |

...hmm, I worry this might turn out like Pacific Rim, more about feelings and stuff than actual monster fighting... Or Cloverfield and more about people running away from it and being scared than it. It sure doesn't look like it but as we know a trailer is nothing to go by these days. Hopefully they only used footage from the start of the movie but the ending was probably in there somewhere. Didn't know Ken Watanabe is in it though that's awesome. I'm just going to be neutral but slightly lean on the negative so either I'm pleasantly surprised or get what's expected. Wonder if they'll ever do Space Godzilla.... |

If they ever created sequels, they'd most likely want to save either the popular monsters for the finale or have something that is representative of something. For example Destoroyah was for right now, a one-shot villain but he was the ultimate representation of the Oxygen Destroyer (a very important weapon in the Godzilla universe) and treated as this ultimate sadistic killer of insanity, the "Freeza" if you might say of the Godzillaverse duking it out with Super Saiyan Godzilla. |

Gonna have to disagree with you there. The story was trash in that movie. I'd say it was much more about the fighting |

Yeah but like 40 minutes or more of the screen time was about them bonding and stuff plus some romance. Godzilla has a much cooler story action wise but the last American rendition didn't go so well. It's closer to the source material in looks but the trailer might just have the only good bits in it, is it going to be like an hour before we actually see Godzilla in the movie? |

Pacific Rim was a good movie. A mix of everything, that coming from Del Toro. |

Pacific Rim was a bit dumb... but it was really good anyway. It didn't want to be a groundbreaking piece of art, just mindless etertainment. And it served it's purpose masterfully.

I'm actually somewhat excited about this movie, but I'm wary because I've been let down so many times by Hollywood lately. |

I used to love the 1998 version when I was a kid, the I watched it a while ago for the first time in a good few years and realized how bad it was. I don't have high expectations as this movie looks pretty decent but not excellent, I'll definitely be watching it though. |
