what was their culture like over there and back then? cuz im p sure it aint similar to what we know. names were probably more descriptive. if you take a look at the meaning of immanuel, it means god is with us according to a google search.

not seeing anything about a tribe of jews w/ my searches.

no clue about the third one, but it could be referring to his second coming (ho ho ho)?

anyway, you've clearly missed my point if you're picking up on those. you referred to god's laws in your post -- e.g., the bible condoning murder and genocide... to quote you: "The Bible even condones murder and genocide under certain circumstances [...]"
can't remember if it was you or other people from last year, but plenty of other passages from the old testament are also referred to such as not wearing clothing made of wool and linen woven together (deutronomy something something), teenagers being rebellious should be killed (deutronomy), slavery being condoned (levicticus and exodus), cursing one's parents should be punishable by death (levicticus), and so on.
all of those laws were created by the israelites as a way of applying the ten commandments. they were specific to the israelites back then, but were abolished when jesus came around and did his thing.

that's my point. so many people have the idea that everything mentioned in the bible is a law when really it's just misinterpreted -- as i've mentioned at least half a dozen times on various threads, it depicts mankinds downfall and redemption.

i'm still an agnostic atheist btw; i haven't converted over the past few weeks/months i haven't been on. i was just lurking and saw misconceptions in a religious misconceptions thread and was drawn in. ukno how it is.
There's no evidence outside religious canon that Jesus even ever existed. He's not conclusively mentioned at all outside Christian texts and New Testament.
So you can't even conclude that the last prophecy might refer to his second coming.

And even if you believe that Jesus existed, The laws were not abolished when he came. Jesus actually specifically stated that he was there to fullfill laws, not to null them, and that all of them must be followed until the end of time.
Quote:

Matthew 5:17-18
[17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass , one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

And apparently, I misread it. The book of Micah makes reference to the Massiah being born to a clan called Bethlehem, in which Matthew misinterpreted that as a city:

Quote:

Micah 5:2
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.

Quote:

Matthew 2:5-6
[5]And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,

[6]And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

galatians 3:13. k
yeah, paul was full of s***. even the other christians of the time thought so.

james 2:14-26

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

according to james, it is by the combination of obeying the laws of god and having faith in christ that you are saved, not through faith alone. that was an idea created by paul, and was clearly a perversion of the original message that jesus himself preached. after all, why would jesus counsel people to obey the laws in order to enter heaven, if his death would nullify that requirement? was jesus a liar? because if he was, he was a sinner, and therefore his sacrifice was in vain.
list of canon sources:

the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga.

list of non canon sources:

everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality.

for those that blindly follow word of god

The reason for "Religious Misconceptions" is due to lack of knowledge in that particular domain.
Now, I am not saying that the education system is not educating people about religion,it is,but some people are not interested in religion.Due to which they have a very less knowledge about this domain. Now,again i am not implying that, these are the people who will abuse about religion.

For example take my case.I have very little knowledge and understanding about religion or its domain in general. And its not because my school didnt teach about religion,it taught a lot about religon, but i was never interested in it.But i dont abuse or disrespect any religon, due to my lack of knowledge and understanding of religon. It is because i know and have been taught in school and in home,to give respect to all individuals and their moral codes.

The reasons for many religious turmoils/misconceptions is due the following reasons,
1.The lack of basic knowledge and understanding about giving respect to individuals and their moral codes.
2.Political or an individual motive to acquire something.

In most of the cases,it is the 2nd reason.
Even the so called "smart/fast-paced" individuals know that, these "religious turmoil/misconception's" are just an illussion created by an another set of individuals or group, to cover up the "Backdoor" setup and used by them to achieve their motives.
