Gandalf vs. Voldemor-t

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

EDIT: I have no idea what happened. The topic title was supposed to say vs.the Villain from Harry Potter. Apparently the site keeps translating Timmooo as Timmooo  Someone mind changing it or is it some DBZF inside joke for Harry Poter?

Just because it crossed my mind.

Gandalf would probably make it to close-range combat and end him then-and-there with a staff or sword attack.

So to make it fair: just magic

EDIT: Great posts everyone; I see the pros and cons for both sides. To address a frequent query, I had meant Movie Gandalf vs. Movie Timmooo when making this topic. If that's too restrictive, you can include a Book scenario as well since the information being provided seems very interesting

This is a no-contest. Gandalf is LOTR's equivalent to a demi-god. Timmooo has no chance in hell.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

It would be an extremely intense fight if it's movie Timmooo, who's noticeably a stronger duelist than book Timmooo.

Just for comparison, Movie Timmooo was dead even with Movie Dumbledore with a slight edge perhaps, but that can be explained by his younger age. Book Dumbledore is also noticeably a weaker duelist than his movie self.

Of course movie duels and book duels are completely different. There's less spell casting in the books, and more conjuring of physical items and enchanting inanimate objects.

Book Timmooo was weaker than Book Dumbledore by a noticeable amount when they fight in book 5 (Order of the Phoenix), but even Dumbledore later on said that he was startled by how powerful Timmooo had become over the years.

Book Timmooo vs Gandalf: Gandalf wins, no contest
Movie Timmooo vs Gandalf: Intense fight, but I really think that Gandalf would win after a difficult fight.

However, both versions of Timmooo wouldn't die because of his Horcruxes.

EDIT: WTF? Why is it filtering V.o.l.d.e.m.o.r.t.?

I'm drawing a blank on what Gandalf can even do to be honest. All I remember is the fancy lights he used in the second hobbit movie and against the Nazgul.

Although if he gets within melee range, I'd bet my pants Gandalf could beat the hell outta Timmooo with his staff.

As a side note, lol at all the Timmooo everywhere.

I guess I'm going to agree with you.

Both Gandalf and "Timmooo" are essentially immortal, and to be completely honest, I can't really think of any magical feats from Gandalf aside from somehow coming back from the dead... which Timmooo was able to do as well.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure he made lightning in the Hobbit book. Can't remember the circumstances in which he used it though.

It is handy to know that in the lore of LOTR, Gandalf pretty much answers only to the God of Middle Earth. And has all the power that implies. We just don't see him do much likely due to casting time, or prep time.

Gandalf is one of the istari and is literally a god in terms of his spirit. Much of his power was constrained during the quests as he was one of those who felt that it is better to let others accomplish what they can and such.

Voldemort while capable and powerful I feel does not have the experience or power to stand against him.

Also, for those who don't know my full name is very very similar to Tom Riddle - someone added a filter lol

Gandalf will definitely win but i can understand how its hard to say that as he has almost no feats what so ever.. But this fight would be like Voldemor-t vs Harry in his first year at Hogwarts (not the actual thing that happened in the books/movie, a full scale battle between them). The difference is too big

Book Gandalf would own pretty hard for reasons already stated. If you go just off the movies though? Gandalf doesn't really have many movie feats IIRC and I'm not entirely sure how much of the Istari lore actually made it in. I don't even think he mentioned it when he was resurrected, he was basically just all "lol I'm back, still got s*** to do." He's pretty much just referred to as a wizard in the movies and that's all. Voldermorts movie feats are possibly better than anything Gandalf showed in his movies.

In fairness to being "Just a Wizard", we only see two confirmed wizards. Sauron when he was more than a glorified spotlight might qualify but I don't know offhand.

I just don't understand how we can make a conclusion based on what Gandalf "might be able to do" because he's "like a god". I'm not denying that he'd be able to win, but that that's not really fair, to be completely honest.

"I am the bone of my sword."

What exactly are some of Gandalf's feats, book or movie wise or at the very least implied feats? Especially in regards to magic. We have to understand what we basically see in both the book and movies is practically only a fraction of the crazy stuff Timmoooe could do. Flight, apparition, one hit kill Avada Kedavra, Occlumency, Imperius curse just to start with a few. Basically anything the little students learned in their seven years of Hogwarts, every charm, transfiguration, curse, hex, etc. Lord Timmooo probably farts out in his sleep casually.

Over 70 years or so, and Tom has built up a huge array of different magical aspects and curses, more along the lines of the dark arts obviously but clearly able to utilize almost any sort of magic. It's basically treated in the books at least that Timmoooe has accumulated a huge amount magical knowledge. People freaked out when he started flying like it was something wizards never did in their life.

That's not me saying Gandalf can't win but since I don't know exactly Gandalf's feats but I can input some information on Voldy, it's what I'm going to say.

Gandalf the Gray would receive a challenge, but when Gandalf the White pops in, He-who-shall-not-be-named is done. Seriously it's an outrageous stomp.
