I never did enjoy the rushed couples in this series. Ron and Hermonie seems really rushed out of nowhere with little to solidify their bond. And don't get me started the Harry x Ginny romance, if you can even call it that. It seemed really rushed and came out left field. What creeped me out is not Ginny's age- but how she was Harry's fangirl/admirer. And as much as I don't want think it like this. I see Ginny marrying Harry as a more "fangirl fulfillment/dream" of her's. I don't know if I'm making much sense and I haven't read the books in ages (I should since I own them all) but yeah. I didn't really like any of the pairings.

Also the book 7 deaths were pointless to me. I mean Hedwig? Who could be considered one of Harry's first friends? Who was just an OWL, had to die? No. Just no. :I Remus's death was just horrible and unneeded too, I don't remember much of Tonks character but I think her death didn't deserve to happen- especially off screen! Some of the stuff in the book made no sense to me, but maybe I'm just being cyincal/picky? *shrugs* Anyways... /rant over

First of all, welcome to DBZF.

And I will bring up the point that Tonks really wasn't in the books that much. Other than her introduction in Order of the Phoenix, her existence is mostly tied to Lupin.
A slightly lesser known fact about her is that she was the niece of Bellatrix and Narcissa (Malfoy's mom) (Narcissa and Bellatrix being sisters, with Tonks's mom being the third sister who was disowned for falling in love with a Muggle-born).

I share many of your views on the series. JK Rowling originally said that she really had no attachment to the characters, but the fact that all three of the main characters come out virtually unscathed really makes that seem like an obvious lie.

I really think the series would've been stronger if Ron would've died. Someone REALLY close to Harry instead of all these side characters that no one really gave a s*** about. It really didn't seem like a war if no one "close to the chest" was dying, and this is why Deathly Hallows isn't my favorite book. It really seemed to placate too much to the desires of the fans, and not enough to the practicality of the story.

The vengeance is her's for as long as she stands by Him.

I love the series, but i feel so much more could have been done with the last book. The killing spree of characters was unecessary. What's the point of killing guys like Colin Creevey? And i agree that if she just killed Ron, it would be much more effective and would cause a much bigger reaction on Harry. The final battle itself was a bit anti-climatic for my taste. But the book also has a lot of strenghts. Moving away from Hogwarts created a bigger variety of settings, the character development was really great, Dumbledore finally gained depth that goes beyond the mentor role and it had a lot of great moments. Even then, after all those years, my favorite is still the prisoner of Azkaban.
