Can't wait to see what Kanzenshuu has to say. I don't know if i trust all this sources. I don't think it's a good thing for the movie to star Vegeta. He was never the main character and i don't know why he suddenly turned into one. He was a really important suporting protagonist, but he wasn't the main character. And as much as people complain about how he was smacked around all the time, he was the guy that destroyed most of Freeza's henchmen and basically did all the plan to defeat Boo. I seriously see no reason to make him the main character besides his popularity. A guy doesn't need to be the prtagonist to shine in a story. Vegeta shined several times, even if he didn't beat up the villains.

He did manage to beat up Semi Perfect Cell lol.

Gine? Hmm... I wonder if she was on Planet Vegeta when it got destroyed.

I already voiced my disagreement on this on a different website(kanzenshuu). But I'll just C/P what I said.
Didn't GT files say the original Planet Sayia is still around? Though they most likely forgot about the planet..well the original Planet Saiya. Not going to lie. ANyone going to miss some of the mystery factor of who Goku's mother is? I mean a lot of anime or other fiction material only have one parent for the important characters. Brings lots of mystery. Seriously I'm going to miss not knowing the name and personality of Goku's mother.

I wanted to know as well. But some things aren't meant to be answered. Such as the original LSSJ. They're nice to think about(especially since the SSJ thing was a legend. Which felt badass once someone got it) but the mystery is what made it awesome. Bardock was awesome(I liked EOB btw) but became a little to heroic(Even if he wanted revenge on Freeza) in EOB. Bardock being a failure gained symphony from the audience IMO. Not knowing ONE of Goku's parents is just fiction 101.

Toriyama didn't care for what damn near 10 years? What makes him suddenly announce the name of Goku's mother. So in all the history of Dragonball. Someone is NOW just asking him about Goku's mother? I don't buy that. This announcement seemed so random and sudden. I'm with Truth on this. The mystery of Goku's parent didn't need to be answered. It's not a jump the shark moment. Just so random.

Also what to quote someone who made great sense:
"penguintruth"

I just get the feeling they're going to try to explain Goku's personality through his mother, instead of the time-tested tradition of him having fallen into a canyon and hit his head.

Much of his personality comes from BRAIN DAMAGE. That rock he hit his head on is his mother. I want to see Goku visit the rock every Mother's Day and put flowers around it.

That's my point. We don't need to know everything, and if anything, some things remaining a mystery are a good thing.

Do we need to know about Bulma's childhood? What about Kuririn's parents? How Yamucha came to live in the desert (I still say he was quarantined for STDs)? What Oolong and Puar's lives were like in the transformation school? Nappa's favorite body wash? What Goku ate for breakfast on the day he went out to fight the Artificial Humans? No. We don't. Not only are those details unnecessary, they're not desirable.

Who cares who Goku's mom is? She's long dead. Everybody's dead, Dave.

I said it in another thread, but i will say it again. This urge to explain every little thing bothers me. It was great to know that Goku was a Saiyan and that Piccolo was a Namekian, because this things added a lot to the mithology of the series. But then thrying to come up with explanations to every little thing (Tenhshinhan comes from a alien three eyed tribe, Kaios fall from a tree, and now, who is Goku's mom) removes a bit of the magic of the series.

We don't need to know who is Goku's mom. Some times, mantaining a aura of mistery does good to the series. It keeps speculation on and incentives imagination. We didn't need to know that the Kaios fall from a tree. It was fine when we didn't know their true nature, because it made they different and interesting. There's no need to put Goku's mom at the story, nor there's a need to delve deeper in a lot of things. There are things that are fine the way they are and don't need change or explanations.

Ok Toriyama contradicted himself. At one point he said Saiyans live just as long as humans. Now he's saying Saiyans live longer than human but die in battle.

This one I found funny though
Toriyama

Incidentally, Gine, who was not cut out as a warrior, would go on to work at the meat distribution center on Planet Vegeta.

:w00t: Found that funny.

Well, it's easy enough to combine and reconcile the two. So Saiyans can live a little longer than humans, but not drastically so. If an average DB human lives to a hundred, then an average Saiyan lives to 110 or 120. As opposed to, say, Namekians who live for several centuries.

I wasn't expecting to get some new info about Freeza's race, but I'm happy about it. Toriyama implies they reproduce asexually (but it's vague), and it seems that Cold was the first super-powerful mutant in their line, and passed that power on to Freeza. Neat. All I really want now is a name for their race.

Also, even though Toriyama says "these two" in reference to Cold and Freeza being the abnormally powerful ones... we can probably just assume he was only concerned with or remember his own creations. So we can count Coola as being in the same boat as well.

Some times i get the feeling that Toriyama is making up stuff on the go during this interviews, quite like he did while writing the manga. Tough some of this info is pretty interesting. I admit that Freeza needed a bit of backstory, and the mutant thing is a really good explanation.

I always figured Freeza's race had some mutation going on through them. I'm surprised and glad that we got the amount of info that we did on Cold and Freeza. Awesome.

I'm liking all of the Bardock talk. It's awesome hearing things that we've always like dreamed about pretty much coming from his mouth now.

I'm really excited about all of this. I think it's about time we got some info like this after doing some thinking for myself.

It would be neat if he'd did a manga prequel to Dragon Ball and Jaco so we can see witg our own eyes yhe adventure of Bardock and Gine? So much to hold in lol.

I think all this is cool.

It doesn't bother me so much about Goku's mother. I'm usually the one who's like eugh we don't need explanations for everything... But I think it's interesting to learn stuff about the saiyans as a species. Her existence, relationship with Bardock and life in general contribute a lot to what little we know about them.

I rather like the confirmation of the idea that Vegeta is less saiyan-like than Goku.

I don't understand why people don't wish to know who Goku's mother is and stuff. I know there's the "mystery" aspect to it, but I rather have this answered then have to deal with fans ocs or having Fasha/Celipa as the mother even though it was confirmed that she's not the mother. I like the idea of finally have a name (and face) to a character who no one ever really thought about much. But this is just my 2 cents.

My thoughts exactly. If the revelation of Gine's existence at least manages to kill off the stupid old "Selypa is Goku's mom" fan-rumor once and for all, then it will be worth it no matter what else happens.

How come he says in this interview that a Saiyans lifespan is longer than a humans, when in the past he said they have the same lifespan.
