Gohan is never said to be a SSJ2 in the movie and a director or writer has never committed on the form. That's why both sides have a strong argument.

It looks more like SSJ2 but it also looks like his SSJ hair style from the Budokai onward. Aura: No lighting is a huge factor toward no SSJ2. Design= Daiz has been wrong on some things before. Daiz also has Trunks and Vegeta in the ASSJ forms in movie 8 and I get argued down here that the sketches don't matter. We know Gohan is unable to turn SSJ2 without first turning into a SSJ as shown as the budokai and when he does he needs time to focus more. I lean toward SSJ2 myself but both sides have room to argue.

I think I was watching the anime when I made my statement but Vegeta loves to practice when ever he gets a new form versus Gohan who hadn't been a SSJ2 in 7 years.

With Goku and Gohan, their eyebows also don't arch above their actual eyes, like they've been seen to do in SSj (post Cell Era) With the anime it's hard to tell because the character designs and style appearances vary depending on the animation team working on the episode.
	The vengeance is her's for as long as she stands by Him.

Mozilla Firefox Favourite Manga Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Trigun Maximum	I'd like to say though that with that sharper facial features for SSJ2, let's remember that most of the scenes involving SSJ2 were basically in intense moments and it's not like we've ever seen a calm relaxed SSJ2 just hanging around, drinking coffee and smoking a join.
