The difference between a SSJ1 and SSJ2?

Can anybody clear up this question?

What is the difference between a SSJ 1 and SSJ 2?

A concise explanation would be great, but an image of both of them would be much more helpful.

Thanks.

Some cosmetic differences. Hair, aura, electricity, bigger muscles. 2x more powerful than ssj1

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

Canon, the best way to tell the difference is that there's sparks in the aura of SSj2, while there isn't in SSj.

Massive increase in all abilities from SSj (official number is 2x increase), and the aggression is heightened the highest out of any Super Saiyan state.

Besides the power differences.

1.) A notable spike in the Saiyan's hair style. Sometimes this is hard to tell but it is there.

2.) An increase in muscle mass (this may fit more along the lines of the anime itself and less for the manga)

3.) Jagged lightning (The end all to be all SSj2 attributes.

4.) A jagged aura. In the manga, SSJ2 is attributed with a very extreme and violent looking aura in contrast to the calm wavy SSJ aura (non-MSSJ) This one is usually missed by those who limited on knowledge about the manga and is another finer point in why, along with #3, Gohan wasn't an SSJ2 against Dabura.

I saw Vegito had an a lightning around his body when he powered up against Buuhan before they fought.

Did he turned Super Saiyan 2 at that time?

Vegeta never fights Gohan Boo in the manga, he immediately fuses with Goku into Vegetto by the time Boo finds them.

Regardless of what happened in the anime is non-canon.

No. SSj2's lightning is very consistent. One-offs are for displays of power.

I apologize, but no. Although the initial transformation showed lightning, perhaps to opt as a way to distinguish how powerful Vegetto was, he still remains as an SSJ. Unlike the anime, AT was very consistent in the way he portrayed the transformation and this included "Jagged aura and lightning"

Lightning, Spikes and Power.

Though, sometimes it's not easy to tell. Gohan was SS2 in M10 (Stated) he had the hair but not the lightning, so that started a huge debacle.

Gohan was never stated a SSJ2 save for daiz sketches.

Almost certain he was.

He was never technically stated to be, no. The aforementioned concept sketches in one of the Daizenshuu are the best indication of it, showing some distinct (and I'm pretty sure labeled) design differences between his SSJ1 and SSJ2 states.

It's it labelled as SS2 than it was SS2.

The anime also makes use of paler skin for Super Saiyan 2. It will be interesting to see what the Full Colour manga does.
