I'm not some over-the-top wrestling mark. I prefer the smaller independent companies over the gigantic ones. However, I heard a rumour that one of the all time greats, CM Punk lefted the WWE. It could be a work, but WWE unfollowed him on Twitter, took away Punk signs and removed him from all live events. He also didn't show up on SmackDown or RAW. I think it's a sad day when somebody as good as Punk has to walk out to take a stand. I'm not too worried though. UFC, or perhaps a Ring of Honour return are possible, but to leave the big leagues like he did, it shows that he has real guts. Hopefully he returns to ROH and faces AJ Styles. That's a match I'd love to see, personally. |

He is trained in MMA, he said it's an interest of his, and he is a friend of a mister Dana White. |

Well Punk loves naysayers. It encourages him to do what he sets out to do. Just needs to build a little more muscle I reckon. |

He won't go into MMA. He wouldn't stand a chance. From what I've read, it sounds like he just wants a break. He's talked about the physical and mental tolls becoming increasingly hard to deal with. It's got as much to do with that as it does him being unhappy with his role at WWE (and Batista being inserted straight into the top on his return). I'm a Punk fan, but if he's quit because he's not the No.1 guy, then I think that's just spoiled brat territory. He had a 400+ day reign as champ. He can't be a champ/contender all the time. There are multiple champion-calibre guys, especially now that they've unified the titles, which narrows the amount of people who can contend/reign. I sort of feel like it might be a work, even though WWE have already gone down that route with Punk before. If it's not a work, I'm interested to see what he does next. |

I was told he left WWE because WWE keeps giving chances to older people instead of promoting the youth WHICH I 100 PERCENT AGREE WITH. They did sign sting, who happens to be one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, but I admit that he is old. They have to stop trying to remake the attitude era. They can't do it in this PG ERA s*** hole. If they got rid of the pg rating, then they could bring up new talent. Can someone explain to me how the "Old" age outlaws are the tag team champions? Is WWE that THIN on talent that they have to dig people from the past just to get by? I think it is sad. Batista wins the royal rumble? Really? What has he done in the past year to deserve it? It's enough said. Edited by Pookie, Feb 3 2014, 11:05 PM.

To be quite honest, I get tired of people wanting to see 'Indie' wrestlers win everything on a non-'Indie' promotion. It defeats the entire point of distinguishing between what's indie and what isn't. On top of that, CM Punk has been with the WWE since 2005, that doesn't make him an indie wrestler in my opinion. It means he used to be an indie wrestler but isn't anymore. What I also find stupid is people hating on older people coming back and being given title shots and stuff, when CM Punk has had his name plastered all over big significant events in the WWE for at least the last 6 years. What other wrestlers go into a royal rumble and get an entire Nexus stable hanging around him making sure he stays in the rumble? What other wrestlers enter a royal rumble and are scripted to throw out most of the entrants while treating it as a promo to show-case himself as the 'straight-edge' superstar? On top of those two examples he's also had a 400+ day title reign and had matches and feuds against the Undertaker and the Rock; 2 huge wrestling icons among others. There have been many angles in the last few years that showcase him and direct attention to him, even if he's not the champion and that is something that barely anybody in that business gets, in which case if he has left because he's not the champion he's acting like a spoiled brat. On the other hand however it's been said that he's been finding it harder to keep up with the workload, which is understandable completely. With all the attention he does receive and the amount of work that requires him to do, his schedule must get overwhelming at times and people do need to rest or take a long break. If there's some sort of personal issues he's finding it hard to cope with with that schedule as well, it's better he confronts those first before moving on. When I heard he was leaving though, a little part of me thought that this was either going to be fake and that the WWE were just working an angle to try and bring him back later as 'a return' in the same way they've 'fired' people before but what seemed to be a little more logical to me was the possibility that he might've left over what happened at the Royal Rumble and leaving in order to direct the attention that fans give him, CM Punk, onto a spotlight for Daniel Bryan so that he gets a more considerable push from the company without Punk being there to soak up some of the attention and also to protest against the way that people like Daniel Bryan and himself have to work harder than the Rock or Batista to get any of the titles or main event billings. If this was the case then I would say it was quite a noble decision, but the likelihood is, that's not the case at all and Punk did it for his own reasons, such as trying to get a bigger pay-cheque out of negotiating a new deal with WWE. Wrestling can be a cut-throat business. Edited by Bex, Feb 4 2014, 08:41 PM.

I stopped watching WWE near the tail end of the Attitude era, right around the deaths of Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. I haven't actually seen Punk wrestle. I currently watch TNA, and while I can see it is just a knockoff of WWE overall, that isn't a big deal to me. Back on topic, if this isn't a worked event, I wouldn't mind if Punk came to TNA. I think he'd be well recieved. |

You have literally just described my relationship with wrestling. I stopped watching WWE after Eddie died, and I watch TNA. Like you said, it's not like I'm saying "TNA is the best", I just prefer it. It's shorter, and they have a pretty decent roster. If anything, they have too many good wrestlers and a very limited amount of airtime to split between them. I'd love to see Punk return to TNA. |

I watch Raw and Smackdown but CM Punk and Daniel Bryan aren't actually the reason I watch. I'm genuinely more interested in what people like The Shield, Sheamus, Goldust and Cody Rhodes, the Usos, New Age Outlaws, Christian etc are doing (I'd say I wanted to watch for the divas matches as well, but the women's division is kind of a joke in terms of wrestling at the moment, it's more about the aesthetics than anything else). Don't really care that much about Batista following the total anti-climax of his return, never cared about Randy Orton or John Cena fighting over the titles and whilst I can appreciate that Daniel Bryan and CM Punk are popular, I'm bored of CM Punk and don't find Daniel Bryan overly interesting. At the end of the day, CM Punk leaving has no affect on me in terms of whether or not I'll keep watching like it will do a lot of other people, but to be honest I'd be glad for a break from him for a bit. Edit - Just found this and thought it was appropriate :P

The wrestling on TNA is far better than on WWE as of right now. I remember watching TNA for the first time and being amazed at how incredible some of the moves wrestlers did. The female division was far beyond anything WWE has ever produced. I also liked how their events were set up. You get to see how the tournaments work with the point systems. I liked that a lot. In WWE, it's harder to tell who is going to be the next in line for a title shot. I watched WCW during the attitude era. Therefore, the main reason why I watched WWE was to see my favorite WCW wrestlers like Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho. As of right now, I do believe that for WWE to be successful they have to continue pushing the youngsters. I liked that Tyson Kid guy who was absolutely incredible inside the ring, but he never got a push. It was such a waste. I remember CM Punk pointing him out in one of his Promos, and I definitely agreed with him. I never thought much of CM Punk. I neither liked him nor hated him, but I do agree with some of his stand points. There is some bias in the WWE. I mean why is it that the Rock "Dwayne Johnson" gets a title shot after being gone for so long? I don't care how popular he is. His match with John Cena was atrocious at Wrestle mania. What was worse is that it happened twice. They said the match was "once in a lifetime." I guess they meant "twice in a lifetime." The one wrestler I do like to watch on WWE, as of right now, is Del Rio. He isn't good on the mic at all, but his in ring ability is great. I truly enjoy watching him wrestle.
