I must confess, this is a topic that really interests me, so hopefully I can learn a lot in this post. However what I do know is that Kaoishin, Makaoishin, Kaio and Makaio all come from a tree. The tree bears fruit, the regular fruit becomes a Kaio, unless in a rare occasion it has negative energy, in which case it becomes a Makaio. Howeve if the fruit is golden, it becomes a Kaioshin, or if negative a Makaioshin. Four Kai's reside over the four quadrants of the universe. With a Grand Kai to reside over them. This is also the case with the Kaoishin. Supreme Kai/Shin is the eastern Kaioshin I believe. As for Kami, The guardian of earth is a position chosen, I think by the previous Guardian. The God of Destruction is the area I am least familiar, I think that it's not a permenent role, as Whis says something to Goku about being the next God of destruction, so presumably the strongest warrior can become the God of Destruction. I think that's all correct, however if I am wrong please let me know as like I said, this area interests me and I'd love to know more. |

Here's a bit I know from some reading without posting pages of info that anyone can open and read: I know there are Shin-jin. Yes, they drop as fruit from a godly tree called the Kaiju Tree that pretty much holds every single god that's born. Shin-jin, which come from the tree, are chosen via lottery on what positions they serve for the universe. Four Shin-jin are chosen to serve as Kaio, in which they look over the four galaxies of the universe; Four Kaioshin that look over them in the entire universe; and then there's Grand Kai and Kibito that are chosen to serve how they serve. Grand Kai is an overseer of the four Kaio, of course, and Kibito, I guess, was picked to serve as an attendant. I do know Shin-jin, maybe Kaioshin, worked in castles thousands of years before the era of DBZ that we see, working on becoming great Kaioshin of the universe and whatnot. Negative Energy, like you've said, in the fruits are the Makio. I think there are both Makaio and Makioshin. I think the Makaioshin are the mirror of the Kaioshin; they rule the Demon Realm in their own universe. They exist but we never got the chance to see them or get a lot of mentions of them in the series. There's Beers and Whis but I'm not sure about them. I can see them falling from the tree too at one time, reasonable to me, but I can see it being doubtful amongst others. |

Whis said Goku could become a God Of Destruction after Beerus died. It is a sucession, kinda like Kami.

What makes this more interesting is that this is the God structure in this universe. All we know is that there are more universes, with gods of creation and destruction. Does this mean every universe has the same structure? There could be a different structure in each. Battle of the Gods has blown open this whole topic haha |

I posted this in the BoG discussion thread, but I think it basically is just a traditional Chinese mythology (keeping with the older Journey to the West influence). In that mythology, there are 12 spheres or universes, all with their own Gods, and even they eventually die and are reincarnated (or in a Buddhist version of Chinese mythology become buddhas and are replaced). There are some other Chinese creation myths that divide the universe up into Four Directions and then 28 subsections from that, too, which might be where the idea of a North, South, East and West Kaioshin comes from. From my understand, the supreme Kai was a young Kaioshin in training when the other Kaioshins met their end to hands of Buu. Since all the others died, he could never complete his training and as a consequence had to oversee the entire universe by himself. This might be why Kabito is always by his side and looks after him, acts as an assistant. This would explain why the Supreme Kai was a bit naive at times. It would also explain why he could not use instantaneous movement, as he probably had not learned the technique hence why Kabito takes hime every. Its implausible to think that Kabito knows the technique and the supreme Kai, the god does not. It does make me wonder why all the Kais, including grand Kai and king Kai did not fight Buu together. |
