The manga's really cool moments

What are some moments in the manga that kinda surprises you that Toriyama came up with that idea, attack, fight, anything, etc that he wrote in his manga? What's something crazy that's generally Toei (make things look cool) material that Toriyama actually wrote in his Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z story?

I was surprised that he gave Super Boo and Gotenks a dimension hole ripping ability. That's unusually crazy for him, imo.
Hmm, Super Saiyan 3 seemed kinda far on his part as well. I can almost see that being a transformation in GT or even a new Toei movie released now days, or even an OVA or something, I dunno.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

I'm suprised at Toriyama giving Cell the statement of blowing up the solar system, I was t expecting he would do such think  ,also SSJ3 Gokus powering up. It was short and good in the manga and not a 5 minutes plus screaming lol, I like the anime but I just prefer the manga scene.

Majin Vegeta, SSJ 3 Goku, Vegetto, Perfect Cell.. These moments were the cool ones for me.. But one thing should be noted, I started reading Dragon Ball when i was like 8 years old and i started with book 39 or finished at 40, then i bought book 41 because i simply couldnt wait to see what would happen.. After that i went to the library and borrowed whatever book they had available for me. So any moments before Buu saga werent so great for me because I knew that the villains were nothing compared to later.

Think of it as how a Saiyan's entire outfit can change if they go Super Saiyan.

So....His shoes are Super Saiyan 4?

I agree with this.
Goku as an "old geezer" was pretty cool, and it gave us the image of what Goku would look like when he eventually did grow old.

A lot of things in the Boo arc were surprising and unexpected. Super Saiyan 3, fusion, Majin Boo himself... Toriyama was going all out while writing that arc. I wouldn't say that those are the coolest things for me in the manga, but they are by far the most surprising and unexpected.

I think Toriyama should have drawn that ending in which Goku is a old Geezer. It would at least have been better than the manga ending, that was awful, in my opinion.

^ I presume all male Saiyans eventually grow mustaches then?

As for a cool moment that's just bonkers... I say the exchange between Goku and Krillin before he goes off to fight Vegeta. Back when the series had heartwarming moments (though Goten meeting Goku was heartwarming too)
It's weird because you don't expect such out of DBZ, the Japanese cartoon about glowing kung fu fighting aliens with massively ripped bodies beating the s*** out of each other.

As a Vegeta fan, that revised ending with him getting the last panel was pretty cool (and surprising). :p

Being serious though, I think that the entire Android/Cell Saga was the most un-Dragon Ball like part of the series. The Vegeta/Bulma relationship and character development, Goku not being the hero at the end, the hard sci fi elements with time travel, the androids and Cell (I would call the Freeza stuff more light sci fi), all of it seemed to come out of nowhere for me. Even now, it's my favorite part of the manga to re-read.

How Vegeta killed Guldo in the manga. That was amazing.

Honestly? I got into Z before the Artificial Human arc. You know, when SSJ was really big deal. When I first saw Vegeta turn SSJ, I just about sh** my pants. Gohan going SSJ2 and whooping Cell's a** was also pretty cool.

One thing that surprised me was the Instant Transmission Kamehameha. Honestly I still find it to be one of the coolest moments in the series, and it was just so unexpected to me. There's Goku up in the sky, charging a full power Kamehameha. I honestly didn't know if he would fire it or not, but then he just teleported perfectly. Such genius.

Looking back, I realize now that my reason for hating the current screwing up of Goten was because I expected more from him. When I was younger, before the American airing of DBZ had completed, I loved Gohan and wished he was far more powerful than he was. I just fantasized about this pint sized kid (like me?) being more powerful than the adults. Root for the underdog, you know? Goku and the grown ups were always the most powerful, while Gohan was left out as one of the weaker fighters. Just to see him become a Super Saiyan, or maybe even a Super Super Saiyan (whatever the hell that is!)

Then he becomes a Super Saiyan 2 aka, a "Super Super Saiyan" just as I imagined. He owns Cell in 3 hits, making the bastard choke on his own blood and saliva. And so the kid who was once the crybaby-become-strong child if still weak compared to Goku, Trunks, Vegeta, and Piccolo, becomes the hero of the day, just a badass kid. That was like "They actually did it!"
And so began my schizotypal paranoia of believing other people were reading my thoughts. Since then, I wished that the third Son would grow a pair and overcome both Goku and Gohan to save the day. Instead, had to fuse just to be relevant and didn't even do s*** and wound up getting killed. Yeah.

So Gohan becoming the strongest was another "really cool" moment. Goten becoming the "lol weakest super saiyan ever" was the "really lame" moment.

Bardock is the weakest SSJ ever. Don't ever disgrace Goten with that title again.

One thing I thought GT got right was making Goten into Yamucha 2.0
