History changed. They got different powerlevels compared to Trunks world.

Some people theorize that their infinite energy reactors deteriorate over time. I'm personally not sure why they're weaker.

They were released later, so Gero had more time to work on them.

Can't. He had no concept of a Super Saiyan.

There are many good explanations of that. Just pick one. One of them stated that because Goku was death, Gero changed the aim of androids from kill Goku, to dominate the world. Besides if Goku was down, he had no reason to make them strong, so he supressed them more than present counterparts.

Trunks timeline isn't the same as the present one. Everything changed. So their powerlevels too. It could be that Future Piccolo was weaker than the present one , thats plausible.

They aren't the same. Just because both versions of 17 and 18 have infinite energy doesn't mean that they're built equally as strong.

They simply regenerate their power automatically after it gets used.

If this was directed at me, then you need not fear, I believe I understand the concept of their energy reactors and they are not the reason I believe all variants of each android to be identical.

The reason is Cell.

Cell knows when he's not strong enough to absorb the androids, and when he is strong enough to absorb them. Cell's expectations would be based on the androids created in his future. So, the [dead] androids in Cell's future are likely equal to the androids shown in the main timeline.

In addition to this, the androids from Trunks' timeline are shown to deceive Gohan by displaying less-than-maximum power during [the majority of] their battles.

If 2 of the 3 sets of androids [that we can compare] are equal, and the one's being labelled as "weaker" are known the deceive their enemies into thinking they are weaker... it seems like a completely plausible option to have all versions of androids as equal, and that Trunks was simply being given the same treatment Gohan had received.

It is never implied that the androids became weaker over time... but whatever gets you through the day.
