Blonde spiky hair: who had it first?; Sonic or goku?

And I know the manga chapter where goku first turns super saiyan happened before super sonic first debuted. But then I started thinking about the black and white colors in the manga. Did toriyama intend it to be blonde or did toei refer to super sonic when deciding the hair color? Did super saiyan hair color copy super sonic hair color or vice/versa? Also something to maybe consider is that super saiyan was originally going to have red eyes. Super sonic has red eyes Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Jan 11 2014, 04:46 PM.

Google Chrome Favourite Manga Dragon Ball	Super Sonic was revealed in Sonic 2 in 1992. Super Saiyajin debuted in the manga in 1991. Super Saiyajin was revealed first, but Super Sonic had been planned before Sonic 2's November release. Super Saiyajin was also planned before it's debut so it's hard to say for sure if Super Sonic drew inspiration from Super Saiyajin itself or the Golden Warrior concept, which SSJ would also be based on. One thing that should be noted though is that Super Sonic originally had green eyes like Super Saiyajin did so they are unnecessarily similar. If I had to hazard I guess I would say Super Sonic drew inspiration from Super Saiyajin because the similarities are uncanny. Edited by ThePrinceOfSaiyans, Jan 11 2014, 08:30 PM.

It seems possible considering that Toriyama himself also designed characters for videogames. He undoubtedly met people in the industry.

I'm not sure when he did the design, and I'm not sure when the anime episodes came out where he turns SSj against Freeza.

Though you gotta admit, the similarities are uncanny. It's not as if Sonic is merely changing to yellow, the eye colour and the quills upturn.

DBZ was just the most popular of the sort.

Well, don't forget that the fanbase demanded Shadow return, Shadow have his own game, are partially responsible for Sonic 06's early release, helped lead to Unleashed, and ultimately this whole 2D saccharine sweet vibe era we have now (gathered from years of Internet studies, relentlessly learning about Sonic fans). But then again, read the edited post.
