Do Saiyan tails also make the person who has one stronger? Could someone like Vegeta have been stronger if he kept his tail after his fight on Earth? Would he be higher than 24k after his zenkai? What do you think? |

Tough call, Dragonball seems to support tails giving power, but Z does not. Chapter: 40, P12.4, 13.1 Goku: “Heheh! I knew that I’m in better condition when I’ve got my tail!” *He smashes wall* Goku: “Alright! I’m in tip-top shape, tip-top shape!” He says, 'better condition' so I'm not sure if he is speaking to his power level, or his ability in battle. He undeniably has better balance when he has a tail, so that could be what that was about. Chapter: 108, P13.1 Context: Grandpa Gohan returned to the afterlife. Goku: “Grandpa! When my tail grows back I’m gonna train it too, and I’ll be a whole lot more stronger!” Kame-sennin: “If you get any stronger than you are now, what’s going to happen to my position?...” I'm not sure if he is implying here that by strengthening his tail, he will become stronger, or if he is simply saying that he will become stronger after training. Chapter: 127, P4.5 Context: it turns out Goku can now handle his tail getting squeezed Goku: “During these last 3 years I’ve trained my tail too as hard as I could!” This one seems to confirm that strengthening simply made him more effective in battle. However in Z, nobody seems to make strength statements in regard to the tail, so I really don't think it would offer a noticeable amount of power. |

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I've always thought of the tail thing as somewhat of a psychological effect. Goku believes that he's stronger with it, therefore he does better while believing that. It surely didn't effect him after he had it removed. |

It only benefits their strength through the Oozaru transformation. In an American Weekly Shonen Jump interview, Toriyama states that after the battle on Earth their tails became “unnecessary appendages”: “The tail lets you gain tremendous strength instantly by transforming into a giant ape, but the risks are equally great---you’ll lose your strength if it’s squeezed. Once you’re as powerful as Vegeta and Goku, the tail just gets in the way. It is thought that the bodies of Saiyans, who are a fighting species, decided their tails are unnecessary appendages.” |

I don't think it affects them at all. If anything that tail would be more of a liability if the opponent knew about the tail's weakness. |

Actually the tail does not add power but guves you more options in battle plus the oozaru so thats a benefit. remember against giran when his tail grew back that was the only thing he could use. he was strangled by the gum. it gives him more balance and it technically makes him stronger. id say its like his Dragon ball version of kaioken but no power speed and vision boost. he trained his tail because it benefits him in battle and of can control it unlike Raditz who just fell and cried like a baby. goku actually was a baby (13 is still baby just look at his size lol) |

Kingsley, I thought this was worth bringing up:
http://web.archive.org/web/20111104071121/http://kanzentai.com/trans-daiz04.php?m=02&id=race#link This isn't confirming that they lose strength, but simply questioning it. So I believe it is safe to assume that it does not increase strength, but simply improves balance. Therefore, it does help them in battle, but not by adding strength. |

I think before Goku could master ki , he was in a stronger position when having a tail , but after lets say Kami's training , it wasn't important anymore. |

LOL never mind. I completely misread that. I thought that Daizenshuu excerpt was saying that if they lose their tails, they lose strength. Disregard that. |
