That's just speculation, but I don't think he kept as much God power as many seem to imply. He didn't fight Beerus nearly as well in SSJ as he did as a SSJ God.

That's because Birusu increased his speed further (Goku no longer had the SSJG Aura at this point).

In the BOG it seemed like SSJG 100%>SSJ Post God>SSJG 80%>Base Goku Post God. AT said SSJG is a 6 and Bills is a 10. If Goku could still use SSJ2/3, then he would be able to beat Bills and even be close to Whis, which was obviously not the case. If Goku could do that, then when Bills was about to blow up the planet Dende could have healed Goku so he could stop them. 2 ways to explain it could be: Spoiler: click to toggle 1. The Post God SSJ multiplies his Pre-God power which would explain the minimal gains from transforming. However, this wouldn't explain why he only uses SSJ and not SSJ2/3, which is why I think another possibility is: 2. He actually absorbed the power of SSJG into his Super Saiyan form, not his base form. So instead of SSJ increasing his power, being in base simply decreases it. This would explain why he only used SSJ. It would also make sense that the Super Saiyan God power would be absorbed into the original SSJ form.
