That's a good question. And here's the answer to that one: We don't. Ain't nothing that tells us that was his original body. But given the focus on his ability to switch bodies with people, gives me a good indication that he's done it in the past and that in fact is not his original body. |

The Daizenshuu confirms that he has changed body before, and few know what his original body looks like. |

If its in daiz and theres nothing solid to go against it, i dont see any point in arguing it. I originally thought he was, since I don't think theres been anyone stronger than him that he's encountered, and the Ginyu force symbol resembles the shape of his head. |

SuperSaiyan2 is right. Also, Jheese commented on the technique implying that he's seen it happen before, or at least knew of it some kind of way. With the Daiz and Jheese both taking the route that Ginyu does have a body before the one we see and the entry below, I think it's best to go with Ginyu at least using two bodies during his space combat. Everything all adds up anyway.

Personally I feel the Manga implies he hasn't, at least not permanently. If he had done it before why would he be so shocked that he can't use Goku's full power? I'm willing to go either way on this, though. I feel like it would have been much better if Ginyu could use all of Goku's normal power, but didn't know how to activate Kaioken (the reason he switched in the first place). That way Vegeta would still be able to beat him, and the entire thing would just make more sense. |

I don't think he's in his original body. That or he's at least performed the technique before. My reasoning is in this post: http://dbzf.co.uk/single/?p=8669405&t=8403153 |

I agree with Clearin. If he had changed bodies permanently before, he would know about the adjustments he needed to do, getting used to the body. As far as I am concerned, the first Ginyu we, the readers, see, is the original Ginyu. Edited by Emmeth, Dec 30 2013, 12:18 PM.

I will go out on a limb and say that it is highly unlikely that Ginyu's body at the time of his appearance is is original body. Well it sure suits him though, and others have mentioned he doesn't seem to be fully aware of Goku's power even after taking hold of his body for himself. Well that can be easily explained considering he likely never changed bodies with a Saiyan or anyone else who could raise their power-levels. Throughout the entire Namek-arc the entire Ginyu-force as well as Freiza's other men seem to have little to no knowledge of concealed power-levels and how to power-up themselves. Zarbon transforms, granted, but that is a bit different. But honestly you just need to think about it for a moment to realize that Ginyu must have had at least 1 other body prior to DBZ... Firstly, he is clearly not using his transformation technique for the first time when he whips it out vs. Goku. He demonstrates confidence and precision on his first attempt such that it would seem impossible that this was the first time he has used this technique. How would one even practice such a move? Only by having to have used it countless times on countless battlefields in grim circumstances. Second the his body-swap is a last-ditch maneuver, one that he only uses when he realizes that he cannot win in his current body. So if Ginyu was forced into using his move earlier in the time-frame against a stronger opponent;...obviously he would not care to switch back after winning and/or he would have been forced to destroy his old body in the process of winning. I do not believe he can switch into dead bodies and even if he could, why would he want to? Third. He shows no lost-love for his old body or his newly acquired ones. He quickly discards Goku when he believes to have found something better (Vegeta). This should all lead the reader to believe that Ginyu is a leap-frog (no pun intended) of bodies, constantly looking for the better accommodations and subsequently showing no attachment with old bodies and having no reason to miss them. ------------------------------------------------ The only way we can sit here and say that it is likely that Ginyu's purple horned body is his original is if he never used it in a serious fight prior to his fight with Goku, which is not likely based on his confidence and knowledge of the technique. I don't think he changed his body. Why should he do that when being already a captain , 2nd strongest fighter of the PTO behind Frieza? |
