Depends really. In recent times, Sega Sonic has shown a considerable edge over Shadow, but that could be because Sonic has main character immunity. Logically, Sega Shadow would have the advantage, but Sonic is a wild card so who really knows. As far as video games their fairly even, both of them winning 5 times out of 10. If this is Archie Sonic, he wins without a ton of trouble. Both incarnations are more powerful than their video game counterparts, but Sonic has the edge with greater feats and the possibility of being the Chaos Force incarnate.

The games themselves are the canon aspects, they're the original material that we got. The comics, cartoons, etc all basically the GT of the series in the sense that, unless specifically specified as being part of the game canon, shouldn't be considered canon themselves. They're what you could consider side projects that were built off of the original canon which is why when you say "Sonic vs anyone" its imperative you declare which series you're talking about. The canon gaming series? The animated series, the comic series, etc. |

You do realize that Archie is it's own series unlike GT right? GT is a sequel to DBZ. Archie makes no attempts to incorporate itself into the canon of the video games. It has it's own canon. It's not really "non canon" to the games if it doesn't even make an attempt to be canon to them in the first place. |

And yet the Archie Comics still takes reference, if only by characters from the games itself. Why you might have something that is canon to the comics, the Archie, animated series, etc wouldn't be considered the main canon, it's not canon to the original material which were the games. It's a simple point, the games are the main canon. The others are just side bits that were based off of the original games itself and that includes the comics themselves whether directly or indirectly. This is why we don't call the movies canon or GT canon. The Archie comics aren't canon to the original source material. You might have material that is canon to the comics, or something that is canon to the television series. But in the overall point, only the games are considered the actual canon intended by the creators of the original material. Edited by EMIYA, Dec 29 2013, 04:08 PM.

Homages are just that, homages. The story of Archie doesn't match up with the video games in the slightest and makes no attempt to do so. Archie and Sega are 2 separate canons and should be treated as such. One is not non canon to the other since they make no attempts to be canon to each other. |

Well in Sonic Adventure 2 battle (Shadow's first game) the final battle in both the hero and dark story mode is Sonic vs Shadow, but I'm pretty sure the canon ending was Sonic beating Shadow, as that's the one that leads to the "last story". |

good guy always wins in the video games in the end, which concludes that video games don't prove if sonic or shadow is better |
