Two simple questions: do you like the Boo saga? That is, the whole arc. If so or not, how do you feel about so many DBZ media excluding it? A case can be made that it's more annoying that Dragon Ball is completely ignored. But I'm referring to all the games and DB Kai (originally). |
So....His shoes are Super Saiyan 4? Here's the the glorious position of being part of DBZ forums' prestiged Member #OVER 9000 club. | |

Most games have it, its really on those select few. As for the series, I don't like it. I think it is easy the most terrible part of the canon franchise and while DB has never been good on story, plot and development, it still had the essence of enjoyment. I don't get that with the Boo Arc, it's not only lazily written, but has none of the joy or suspense or effort put into the other arcs. One of the main problems is that unlike the other Arcs, AT was given far more freedom to do what he wanted here. What you get is a mangaka who can't write worth anything and what he does is just at the top of his head. This creates huge problems later on when AT starts contradicting himself throughout his series and has no way to actually fix it. This is why you have editors and why we thankfully didn't have No. 19 and No. 20 as the main villains, cause that's exactly what AT was planning to do. Someone has to keep an eye on him because as we see, you give this man freedom to do what he wants, he just pours stuff out regardless of quality and there's a darn good reason at least in the west that the Boo Arc is considered the least favorite out of the series. I personally like it but my only complaint is that the only non saiyan characters on the hero side that had any involvement were Piccolo and Mr Satan |

I liked the Boo saga. It was good I would not call it great, my only peeves with it were the inconsistencies and how some of the major characters in the end turned out be useless. As far as anime performance goes I feel it was terrific. In the English dub the first two sagas I felt the acting was average. But, I was always, always, ALWAYS annoyed with lack of emotion, that totally burned down then performance of a few animes to me. I was shocked to hear Goku have emotion in ALL his lines. Tbh, Goku in the Majin Boo saga had emotion, which is 50% of the reason why I favor the saga. |

Love the Buu saga and am currently rewatching the Ocean-dub version. It really brings back some of the comedic goofiness of Dragonball back with the world tournament and some of Hercule/Satan's scenes are absolute gold that to this day I cannot help but laugh at outloud. I think the problem with this saga is that it gets ridiculous way too often and people go from being relevant to nothing every other episode. For instance the Supreme Kai was built up as some immensely powerful weirdo, possibly a villain in the way he smirks and subtly knows all their identities....then as soon as we find out about Buu he turns into a panicking oaf who is largely irrelevant and only there to explain things to Goku et al. Overall, it was a fantastic saga. |

Buu Saga's the epitome of DBZ for me. The animation & drawings got better (try comparing an episode from Saiyan Saga & Buu Saga). Buu Saga rocked until Majin Vegeta's sacrifice. Everything else was stale (for about 20+ episodes) especially Gotenks vs. Buu. It picked-up once again as Gohan, Goku & later Vegeta was eventually drawn into the final fight & ended on a high note. Kid Buu was pure entertainment. The anime version of Kid Buu especially did a great job of masking his flaws as character. Super Vegito was good. Perhaps a little more focus on non-Saiyans would've been nice. |

I enjoy it. Not as much as other arcs in the series, but I still enjoy it. Gotenks is one of my favorite characters, mostly because of the sheer logic bomb he drops on most casual fans' preconception of Goku's power. I really enjoyed seeing Vegito fight, the idea of a "union of rivals" is really astounding and Vegito just oozes cool. That said, yea there is no suspense to this portion of the series, Super Buu kills everyone on earth relatively quickly. And how irrelevant each character becomes so quickly. You literally have SSj3 Gotenks being a non-factor once he defuses inside Buu, Gohan becomes irrelevant once Kid Buu is created, Vegito defuses inside Buu as well...it feels like none of the character's strength MEANS anything really. I would have preferred the series end with Gohan vs Buutenks with Gohan having to "dig deep" to find a way to win against a vastly superior opponent. Make the finale dramatic with Gohan doubting himself again only this time it's the death of his little brother inside of Buu and allow those taunts to continue from Buu...it would have just upped the drama level IMO instead of bringing Goku back YET again. The Buu saga was my favorite part of DBZ. Majin Vegeta, Super Buu, Mystic Gohan, SSJ3 Goku, Kid Buu, and Vegito were all awesome. Fat Buu, Hercule, Old Kai, and Gotenks were all funny, and there was a lot of awesome fights. |

Let's look at who defeated each villain... Raditz - Piccolo Nappa - Goku Vegeta - Yajirobe Ginyu Force - Goku/Vegeta Freiza - Goku Garlic Jr - Gohan Android 19/20 - Vegeta Cell - Gohan I think it's a bit exaggerated to say Goku always saves the day. But yea I still hate the Buu saga. It was a terd sprinkled with a few good moments. Edited by rusty_sim, Dec 25 2013, 09:42 PM.

I don't know who you're referring to with this reply, but all I said was "...bringing Goku back YET again." I didn't say Goku always saves the day. So either your reply was directed towards me and you twisted what I said or it was towards someone else which isn't likely cause no one else suggested anything relevant to what you replied. So...no need to go over who defeated each villain. I wasn't suggesting that Goku always saves the day. |

I like the buu saga a lot. The animation was the best and buu had more back story and character development than any other villain before. Fusion and ssj3 is awesome

I find the Buu arc to be extremely painful, even in the manga. I felt it highlighted that Goku was a bigger idiot than usual. |
