Considering they were manifestations of Buu's imagination, I don't think it's ridiculous to assume they aren't as strong as the real deals. I honestly couldn't care how many times the anime wants to claim Pure Buu is the strongest, Goku also states Super Buu is much stronger than he was yet he's all to willing to put up a fight against Pure Buu. The anime contradicts itself so, IMO, the only thing left to do is look at the feats and the feats tell us that Goku is around as strong as Pure Buu, and Goku is much weaker than Buuhan making Goku's statements illogical. That's just me though. I don't really have much of a problem with people taking what Goku says at face value since it's the freaking anime :lol: .

 Sadly stronger than Buuhan. It doesn't make sense, and I don't like it, but that's just how it went.

If he wasn't the strongest in anime, Supreme Kai would've completely and utterly lost his mind when initial Super Buu appeared (considering how much stronger he should be/is).
