How many of you solely give the winners of a battle to the combatant that has a higher power level? I seen 2 guys get in a argument over power level being the biggest factor. Example: SSJ3 Goku can beat Gotenks because he has more experience? Or Gotenks wins cause pl?
Or how do you judge fights? Another example is people said that SPC couldve beaten Gohan but he messed up by trying to blast him to death. What is your method?

Comparing power levels is usually the main factor in a fight, but it's NEVER the only one. Whenever I give an answer to a "versus" topic, I always take skill, personality, luck, special abilities, natural attributes, and stuff like that into consideration.

EDIT: I decided to bold and italic that "never" just to make sure the point got across.

It really depends on the situation of the fight and the skill of the two fighters :)

For example,SPC could have beaten SSj2 Kid Gohan,we know this because Cell has much more skill than Gohan and there power gap was very close, so Cell could have taken it

But,let's say if FPPC and Bojack fought, its obvious that Cell would have beating him again because of higher skill and teckniques for all the Z fighters

On the other hand if the gap bettwen a hypothetical fighter A and another Figher B is in the stomping range or above(1.2x times or higher)then no matter how much more skill and teckniques fighter B has he won't win Charatcer A will stomp Charatcer B because of the large power difference, that's how i view thinks up ^_^

A lot of people liked that Gohan won but I have seen some on Twitter say that Cell shouldve won because if he were to fight him while Gohan was injured after taking the hit for Vegeta he wouldve won. And Im over thinking how can Gotenks stomp Goku? I think he could beat him yes but Goku has so much more skill and everything. Gotenks would have trouble.
I like posting versus topics but theirs so much fights that people post and put 'Equal PL'
I think those topics take more synopsis
You know?

Really? How did Freeza avoid getting "stomped" by Goku, then? ;)

So long as people keep insisting on the "1.2x or whatever difference" thing, I'll keep calling shenanigans on it. There's no such strict cutoff point for power gaps. This simple truth is highly relevant to this thread.

That's true, both thinks sounds off, if the Figher has high skill and teckniques like Frieza then perhaps the normal stomping range isn't just enough to to do it,heck I don't know what to say ;)

No, I just don't think the official power levels are wrong because Freeza's power compared to Goku's lies outside of some proportionate cutoff point made up by fans.

"Freeza was less powerful than Goku but still gave him a good fight" is all that matters.

Oh wow. I read somewhere that Goku was indeed stronger but that Goku was struggling with his new powers. Maybe it was too much for him as it is his 1st transformation. Frieza did give him a hell of a fight. I use that a lot when some fans say Frieza was a pushover. I dont think Frieza was a pushover at all. He was far more experienced than Goku cause he fought so many types of races I assume. So that goes back to my original question. Power level? Or skill?

A mix of both.

Elements like skill, special techniques and abilities, and so forth, can allow someone to fight equally or even have a shot at beating someone stronger than them (Nappa/Freeza Vs Goku), and likewise allow someone with only a very small power advantage, if one at all, to absolutely dominate someone else (Vegeta Vs Zarbon/Dodoria).

So power is usually the main factor in a fight, and usually determines who will win. But other factors like skill determine how the fight actually unfolds towards its outcome.

Thanks for making it more clear. Its like Vegeta. He did not stand a chance against Kid Buu. But his endurance and durability showed that he could at least survive Kid Buu. Vegeta is a very experienced warrior so that makes him able to withstand those attacks. I think SSJ3 Vegeta would be stronger than Goku and even more skilled IMO
So Ig the factors in a fight are based on pl but if they dont have a huge gap than its based on intelligence, awareness, skill, speed, reaction, and all that are taken into account
Makes sense
Even in reality
I fought a guy clearly bigger and stronger than me but I had speed
Just like Trunks vs FPPC
Trunks just wasnt fast enough

"I am the bone of my sword."

To me, the first thing I look at is the power and see is there a certain enough gap between them that I can tell that someone will win on power alone. Something like SSJ3 Goku vs SSj3 Gotenks is something that is heavily in Gotenks' favor to the point where the amount of so called techniques and skills won't matter.

Once you get into what I would assume to be rivaling range I look to what the context of the characters have as well as their abilities and skills. I also assume that, unless either otherwise specified or is in their character, that everyone is fighting at full effort and without PIS or CIS. So when I get two people say "SSj2 Goku vs SSj2 Majin Vegeta" or "SSJ2 Kid Gohan vs Zenkai Perfect Cell" Where they are implied to be either equal are pretty damn close enough, I look into ther skills, moves, abilities, intelligence and all that jazz and basically compare them to one another and see who had the better moveset than the other.

To me, equal fights are something that two opponents have to give their 100% power or ki against. What they may not have to do is put in their 100% effort on.

So in an equal match between Boo Arc Goku and Nappa, Goku obviously won't have to utilize his entire arsenal to take Nappa down. What he would have to do is make sure he had enough firepower to get the job done.

There's a certain point where skill means crap, since I think the Daiz is wrong, I think that at 1.25x your skill loses relevance. Fighters in the same tier however, that's a different story

Examples
A Saibamen could kill Radtiz due to its acid while Radtiz can win due to skill
Bojack's ki amplification is insane, thus he can kill Perfect Cell
Broly has replenishing ki, he beats SSJ2 Kid Gohan despite being in the same ball park
Misokatsun's skin protects him from nearly every attack, in equal powers, he usually wins
Haze Shenron's pollution seals the deal against Pan, despite her being stronger than him
Eis Shenron's ice abilities allowed him to hamper Goku, despite being weaker

So now introducing moves and techniques in detail gives this more logic. Spirit Bomb is a good move that can work to Goku's advantage given the time he needs. Many things can be taken into account. Wow... Interesting topic. Thumbs up to everyones contributions
