I love Sean. I grew up with his voice as Goku and it's left that indelible impression on me ever since. It's as ingrained in me as James Earl Jones as Darth Vader. That's not to say I'm strictly FUNimation dub. See, I'm pretty moderate. I prefer the original FUNimation dub but for video games like Raging Blast, I use the japanese voices and for my orange box set DVDs I turn the Japanese music on but leave the FUNimation voice dub. I just like what I like. I like it all. As for Kazenshuu, the real reason I posted in this thread( ) I had a bad experience with them myself. When MFG shut down I eventually found my way to Pojo and began posting there. It was fine enough but I did miss that MFG flavor. I then heard about Kazenshuu and after a quick visit it felt like everything I missed about MFG. Oh boy was I wrong. After a few debates here and there and some general snobbery I had finally had enough. I called Vegetto-Ex out on being an egotistical weeaboo loser who has to validate himself via his online presence. This of course enraged him, and I began spewing my rhetoric at Pojo. This of course came to his attention and he and Herms actually registered there and begin replying to my hate threads. At the time it was childish of me but I wanted to bring down what I considered to be their elitist mentality. I feel I succeeded because they took to twitter and our forum to continue their escapades. For it all though, Herms was actually extremely humble and my respect for him actually GREW as a result of this little spat. However, Vegetto-Ex is still contemptible in my eyes. I am almost glad that Sean had a bad experience at Kazenshuu. It just goes to show exactly how bad off that forum truly is. It's well known enough to attract Sean Schemmel but snobbish enough to turn away one of Dragonball's biggest names. Isn't that ironic...It's a great resource, I'll give it that but as a community...it's pretty blah to me. I almost get the vibe that they're not even Dragonball fans...but that's just my opinion. Aaaaalrighty then. What kind of stuff was it that turned you off to Kanzenshuu? I'm having difficulty tracking down anything specific. Looking up the Pojo conversation you mentioned, I see him coming in to politely explain himself about something, and you in turn calling him a weeaboo, misunderstanding his points as him saying that he was a bigger fan than you. It seems to me that was less about anyone being snobby or elitist and more just a lapse in communication. Anyway, that said, you kind of have to understand that VegettoEX has been at this DB community thing for a LOOONG time, but with the explosion of activity at Kanzenshuu in the past few years, things have changed and there's less patience to go around. If he or anyone else comes off as snobby or superior, it's more than likely a result of just having to respond and deal with the same things over and over so many times. Having to deal with the same continuous debates over power levels is ESPECIALLY tiring. On that last note, and based on the last couple posts on there I see from you, I also think there may just be a big difference of goal and focus for Kanzenshuu compared to other forums. It has an In-Universe subforum that gets a substantial amount of activity, but it's just one part of a larger site and forum populated by lots and lots of people, many if not most of whom don't give a damn about strength debates. Compared to other communities which focus almost ENTIRELY on strength debates and even somehow form community-wide reputations around them. That's not what Kanzenshuu is or wants to be. It's supposed to be more all-encompassing. So when someone points out that most of Kanzenshuu's population doesn't focus primarily on or care about power level related topics, that's not putting down those topics or anyone who takes part in them. It's just stating the truth. And frankly, sometimes Kanzenshuu just gets trash-talked because people who, honest truth, put WAY too much value in power comparisons, come there declaring something they've deemed is fact, treating anyone who disagrees with them like an idiot, and then people have the balls to disagree with them. So the newcomer gets all pissy and leaves and goes to complain about it on other forums and call Kanzenshuu as a whole a bad site. It's that easy for a site to get a bad name somewhere else. Individual members, too. People used to slam me on Pojo and even here on DBZF as well for a huge variety of dumb reasons. But I got over it. That's just internet drama for you. I guess my point is that every site, like Kanzenshuu or any of many others, has its own way of doing things, and even then its members will all have their own individual outlooks as well. Judging a whole site or community by the actions of one or an isolated few members -- such as your bad vibes from VegettoEX or Mr. Schemmel being flamed by a particularly obnoxious anti-dub fan -- probably isn't a good idea. Not that YOU know. Most disciplinary mod action is handled behind-the-scenes. Furthermore, Penguintruth's ire is usually pointed towards products, like the English dub itself. There's a big difference between making snarky comments about a product, and actually being insulting towards another member. But still, you don't actually know how or how many times he's been reprimanded, so there's really no good way for you to compare him to anyone else. Problematic members are always dealt with one way or another, but we prefer not to make a public scene of it. You got banned for being condescending and insulting towards other members, regardless of your reasons why, after having multiple warnings and even a temp ban for pretty much doing the same thing. It's probably bad form for me to be discussing it here, but like with my post above, I'm just trying to make sure everyone understands how things work. A lot of members are on thin ice at times but turn things around. A lot of members seem like trouble but know how to toe the line and avoid actually breaking any rules. Even I was under some heat recently for handling things badly. But still as a mod myself, I can promise you there's no conspiracy or favoritism at work. One thing you're kind of right about is the increased moderation attention to in-universe topics lately. Yet the reason for that is because, go figure, that's where most of the immature arguments tend to break out. |

I'd rather keep the discussions of other forums out of this thread please as not only is it really drifting off topic but it's not really something we want to encourage too much of. |

So how about Sean Schemmel? As much as I'd love to bash Kanzenshuu and its subsidiaries, this IS about the guy behind FUNimation Goku. Make a topic in Rogue's Dungeon if Kanzenshuu is your flavor. Ninja'd by Copy. Edited by Pyrus, Jan 2 2014, 07:39 AM.

Well if you proxy it, you should be able to go undetected on your computer. So you can still go in and see whatever you need to see. |

My bad for the thread derailment. I just read a few users experience with the other forum in this thread and wanted to chime in my own personal story. I do apologize. That said, Sean Schemmel is great with fans I heard. I wonder if anyone does have his twitter or knows if he even has one? I also wonder if Chris Sabat lurks on any forums or interacts with fans. I know at a few conventions he's done the Vegeta voice. |

I'd love for Sean to be on this forum if for no other reason than any time I'd ever read something posted by him I would hear it in Goku's voice in my head. For all other reasons though, he seems like a great guy, which I think is most important for this community, regardless of the fact he's Goku. |

Assuming you were hulkty... then no, you got perma-banned (after multiple past warnings for other things) because you posted a tirade where you claimed that most or all male fans of My Little Pony were, among other things, homo/bi-sexual, pedophiles, or "VERY confused." Don't act vexed like it's somebody else's fault.
