Kazzenshuu (however you spell it) are a bunch of a******* who think they know everything but they don't. No wonder Sean is pissed off. Thanks alot Kazenshuu idiots. You insulted a nice and good hearted man.

However, the very small amount of time he spent there, he got burned pretty bad by Anti-dub fans (which Kanzenshuu is crawling with). He posted about ten times there, before the relentless insults ensued, and then that was it. He never posted there again.

For the record...he was burned by one Anti-dub fan (And a large one, at that). Everyone else was pretty accommodating (IIRC, however, he didn't handle it in the best way he could have).

That said, I think it'd be cool to have him on board (hah), but if I were him I'd probably keep my identity secret, at least at first.

I kinda think you guys are getting your hopes up way too much with this so I thought I would try and offer a social commentary as to why he might not join as opposed to blind optimism in the hope that somehow he did decide he wanted to join:

Sean doesn't necessarily sit around all day surfing for fan forums to join, so whether he got the message or not, that doesn't guarantee that he will take any notice of it, or even let you be aware that he has taken any notice of it if he so chooses.

Secondly, Espo is right, it might not be all fantastic if he did join - mostly because people would kiss his butt all the time and spam the place up - but then where my opinion differs to Espo's is that this place is basically already a festering spamhole as it is, even without the introduction of somebody famous that people will try hard to get his attention by posting even more mindless drivel (the sort of thing you see in the chat boxes of live streams and what not like fanboying/fangirling and other such stupid comments).

Furthermore, assuming that Sean knows all there is to know about DBZ just because he voiced one of the characters in the show is kinda stupid. Yes - because he's voiced Goku for a long time now, in the shows and games and everything else the story of DBZ will be drummed into his head just as much as the nativity is for those who celebrate christmas, but that doesn't mean that he will or even want to just churn out answers to questions about the story, characters and DBZ in general that quite frankly are better directed to Akira Toriyama (as inconsistent as he may be) than somebody who was just hired to do some voice acting on the show. Don't forget that the voice actors don't write the show so their understanding still won't be the same as the people who actually did, even if their insights are quite a lot deeper than the average fan.

My final point is that whilst this forum might not be as bad as this Kazenshuu place, it's still not great. For starters, even in this topic, people are just taking whatever time they can to just slag off and crap on Kazenshuu because they believe he should come here instead. If you wanted to show that you were better, you probably wouldn't do that by going "f*** Kazenshuu those guys are a***** b*** f*** s***s" because that doesn't exactly make this place look any more appealing than the other forum. Furthermore - and I hope nobody takes this as a personal attack because it isn't meant to be even though it is a harsh fact about DBZF - a lot of the people on this forum seem extremely detached from real life and how real life actually works because they use DBZF as an escape or are simply not old enough to have even discovered the right ways to behave socially or how to shoulder responsibility - which for someone who I'm sure actually has more of a life away from the culture of this forum like Sean, would be kind of awkward and again off-putting.

So as much as it's fun to think about the idea of Sean Schemmel signing up to DBZF, there aren't really any guarantees that he has the time to meet you, or quite frankly whether he wants to meet any of us at all.

Hailing from Kanzenshuu myself, I'm not sure how to correct or comment on this without potentially sparking inter-forum drama.

Well, you may be right (don't know what you're basing a lot of that on), but considering everything you're pre-supposing contradicts the way the guy has been in the best, I tend to doubt it. I can tell you as someone who interacted with him quite a bit back on #namek (the old PN IRC chat). He was on there A LOT, and had fun interacting with fans and answering questions. Granted, this was 10+ years ago, and it seems like he's gotten out of the voice acting game entirely. But, given that he might be going back to dub BoG and this could be his last time doing the role of Goku, it would make a lot of sense to at least ask him. The worst his could do is say "Hey guys, I know I used to be really active in DBZ fandom, but that was a long time ago and I'm at a different place in my life right now. Unfortunately, I don't have the time/interest these days."

Who would that hurt? No one. So much drama in this thread all of a sudden.

I invited Bear Thief's voice actor. He had some pretty damn good moments throughout the series.

I waited for this in my entire life.

Agreed, for the most part.

What you’d have to ask yourself first is what does Sean Schemmel get out of coming here that he wouldn’t find elsewhere? Being swamped by sycophants and their questions is something he probably gets enough of at anime conventions. There, he can interact with fans and cater to their requests face-to-face, deterring some issues that could arise from the security of a computer screen. If you’ve ever been to a convention’s DragonBall panel or seen a video of one on Youtube, they’re not particularly known for giving off an air of maturity. In general, fans are usually very consumed in their own thoughts, and it sometimes doesn’t occur to them that the references and questions they’d raise may not be familiar to those involved in the production of a series they’ve obsessed over.

Is this place really anything special from what you’d expect from an anime convention? Probably not. It wouldn’t take very long to notice the mindset just by avatars and signatures; when people are affected by something deeply enough they are compelled to share those feelings with others even though it may not have anything to do with DragonBall or even anime, heedless to it not being received by someone in a way they’d hope for. This community is more centered towards in-universe discussions; Mr. Schemmel would be largely associated with the out-of-universe aspects of the series. The sort of questions to be expected likely wouldn’t warrant him coming here, to be honest. If it were something he really wanted to do, he’d probably be here on his own accord, this forum is the first result when searching “dbz forum” on Google after all.

I'm trying not to get in a flame war here guys, but did any of you ever actually talk to him? He was the most laid back, zany kind of guy and had fun answering ridiculous "in universe" questions. I have to try and not laugh when I read these posts. Believe me, PN/#namek was not exactly a den of intellectuals, I will never forget the day a mod named "Shinji" IP banned me for saying Evangelion plagiarized Ideon.

Actually, this place really is much nicer than most cons. People are just as rude as you'd think. Chris got SLAPPED by one for his work in one show. And being laid back and zany is something that many actors feel compelled to be for the fans. After all, a first impression may be the only impression for some attendees. Forums give people the ability to relax a bit and may make them feel safer speaking their mind. A lot of VA's are also fans, so I could see them being on forums if they wanted to chat and be taken seriously.

You people really know how to overreact.

All I'm saying is that there is quite a large possibility that he might not want to come here, or even consider coming here and you're jumping down my throat for it which is a prime example of everything I said before.

Noooooooo :( I agree with you, I was replying to Gohan and Ben. I was just saying that this really is a nicer place than one may think and a person's behavior at conventions maynkt reflect their actual personality.
