Broly's Back-Breaker

Broly's Back-Breaker on Gohan is quite possibly the most inconsistent part of the film. A minute earlier, we see Broly tanking Gohan's punch and knocking him around. The hold however, paints Gohan as much closer. Gohan makes Broly sweat and actually brute forces his way out, causing Broly's arms to shift forward. Then Gohan knees Broly in the face, staggering him and making him look rather pissed off.

What gives?! One scene Broly is tanking Gohan's punch while smiling, the next he gets overpowered and kicked in the face

Its easier to take a punch in the front of your face than on the sides. Plus kicks are stronger.

I'm referring to Gohan's knee to the face, not his two kicks to the neck which he did earlier. The only reason I started this thread is because people seem to think that Broly had a 2x gap on Gohan. Gohan was keeping up rather well and when all was said and done, Broly was all bruised and bumped up

Gohan does something similar while in base form later on, that would come off as more unusual than when he's using his strongest form, in my opinion.

Before Broly traps him in the hold, Gohan's strikes are shown strong enough to displace him, so it's hardly the most inconsistent thing. What difference there was from the first strike could simply be attributed to him putting more energy into his attacks.

The part where he breaks the hold was off-guard and Broly was only shocked by it, not outright snarling in anger like before.

He looks just about as angry, and Gohan's strike had an effect that you'd only come to expect from his transformed state.

The movies don't strive in being consistent with powers, they're made to suit the moment.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Easy, Gohan is actually quite strong here and though significantly behind Broly, he still had a chance and some shots. Like Kaioken Goku vs. Suppressed Freeza.

That's very consistent with Gohan the rest of the film, what with kicking Broly away multiple times. My only problem lies when he over powers Broly in a show of brute strength and that his first punch gets tanked. If Gohan and Broly were somewhat close, that punch would not have been tanked

That's true but there are inconsistent thinks in all movies, like Base Goku punching Bojack and actually making him cough bloud, even though he was off guard, that shouldn't present him such damage, considering the difference in there power :)
