I think Gohan saying he's powered up since back then is referring to him turning SSj2, he'd obviously be stronger than where he was in M8.

Basically Gohan stated he powered up since before meaning he's above he's kid shelf and that would take him at least on Gokus Buu saga level considering the low gap Goku Buu saga had with CG Gohan so LSSj Broly who completly outclassed this Gohan is a SSj2 tier and I have him on Good Buus level

For Tien, he was face down in the dirt in the Manga. As for Gohan's power, blame Toei's incredibly bad luck to have released it before Goku revealed more than 50% of his power. Toei had Gohan much weaker than he should be due to not getting the plot details about Gohan being stronger. It's kind of like how in Movie 13 SSJ3 Goku>SSJ3 Gotenks>SSJ2 Vegeta>Mystic Gohan

Gohan was nerfed in M8. iirc M8 was made before the anime stated Gohan > Goku. Goku was stronger than Gohan in movie 8, while Gohan was stronger than Goku in CG.

Gohan was nerfed in M8. iirc M8 was made before the anime stated Gohan > Goku. Goku was stronger than Gohan in movie 8, while Gohan was stronger than Goku in CG.
And Gohan appeared in M10 after he killed Cell stating that he is ready to take Goku's place.

Solution: Don't fuss too much about connecting the two movies. If the writing happened far enough ahead of the Cell Games in the manga, then Movie 8's writers wouldn't have known that Gohan was stronger than Goku. So it's okay to assume Gohan's stronger in Movie 10 than in Movie 8, but still equivalent to his manga self and thus weaker than when he held the No.1 spot during the Cell Games.
