We've seen that he had the ability to convert himself to an android/cyborg and give himself incredible power by comparison to a normal human. Why is it that he did not put his efforts into making himself an indestructible fighting machine? Instead, he put his ability into other creations that he'd (hope to) order around. |

the conversion process he used on himself was different than what he used on 17 and 18. maybe it wasn't compatible with the more powerful models. so, he did make himself as powerful as he could, and as an absorb model, he could get even more powerful over time simply by absorbing energy. |

He probably knew that his physical limitations made him incompatible with the power achieved from artificial sources like Cell & 16 and from higher-order cybernetic sources like 17 &18 |

Fake, stupid in universe explanation that everyone on this forum requires: it was impossible due to his structure or..something..(which doesn't make sense because 18 and 17 were much stronger and also human beings beforehand) real answer: plot |

He was like 90 years old, guy. He ain't doing anything special with himself. He'd probably have a stroke or something if he even tried. |

So..you're telling me that one of the smartest men on the planet who can somehow collect DNA from various people and turn it into a super cyborg demi god can't postpone his own natural life via his own research? I don't buy that lol.. |

I really don't understand why you have a problem with people speculating on why a character did a certain thing. Everyone here knows the real answer is plot, the real answer as to why anyone does anything in any fictional story is plot. People like to discuss things from an in-universe point of view, which is kind of the point of discussing a series. If everything was answered with plot then discussion would just die. |

The problem is, some things just don't have an in universe explanation because it's so blatantly obvious and stupid. There's absolutely no reason why Dr. Gero would not make himself the strongest and employ other "robots" when he could just make himself strong. He would at least make himself stronger than he DID in the story, but why didn't he? There's no answer to that question. Using logic you can deduct this. He created androids out of HUMANS. He was a human too. If he can make 17 and 18 so strong, there's no logical reason why he can't do it to himself. Tell me that's not 100% plot. |

Well its plot wise mostly but he was very aged in my opinion to make himshelf an actual super strong android its not like he could do much in my opinion he reached as much power as he could possible do and then added some good abilities as well

I thought it was a case that he deemed infinite energy models to be too unreliable, especially since he deactivated #17-18 for periods on end, and keeping #16 offline. For all we know, he might have decided to switch from being an energy absorption type to infinite energy once he solved whatever problems he found in infinite energy types. |

the process he used on 17 and 18 wiped their memories. obviously he didn;t want to wipe his own memories, so he used a different process. that process was not compatible with the more powerful models. |

I think he could also make himself as strong as both androids. but he could absorb energy so he didn't needed to be that strong at the time. |

I believe 17 &18 were beta tests and he wouldn't want to use something out of testing on himself. |
