I Feel Like I Shouldn't Like DBZ

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

It's been heralded as the greatest action anime of all time. That's its selling point -- brilliant fighting with a unique factor that's sparsely available elsewhere.

You don't go to a comedy for the plot, and I don't watch DBZ mainly for the plotholes. I love the martial arts & ki based action.

Plus, as others have said, you shouldn't let others' opinions influence your own. Everyone should choose what to like based on their own reasons and preferences as opposed to others'
We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

the best way I can some up dbz.

its like gen 1 pokemon, not the best of the series but it was what got me into the series and it holds a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite.

kinda like how dbz was for me. it was the first anime I ever watched and ultimately is the reason I watch anime to begin with. although it is very far from the best anime I have seen it will always be one of my favs.

If you don't think you should like it, then just stop watching it, talking about it, and doing anything related to Z. I'm sure you can find better things to do with your time than complaining about an anime.

Its not bad to like it perhaps its "special"to you I have watched many other animes and I've never ever felt like I felt about dbz the suspend the fights the blowing up staff the steoy etc...those are facts why dbz is my favorite show ever and it in my hart and believe me there is no nostalgia here I'm watching dbz since 13 and I'm 16 :)

I don't care about storyline/plot for cartoons or animes. Its a tv show thats animated, who gives a s***.

But we are all pretty much here for nostalgia except me, I only watched DBZ 2 years ago? (like the whole thing, I barely remember liking/watching it when I was a kid) but now this is my first post in the DBZ sections in weeks, so IDK.

its a classic
some other anime and manga's give a lot of respect to AT because a lof of their
ideas and inspiration come from him
in the hay day dbz was well written for the most part but with newer manga's and stuff its going to
seem inferior. even then the flaws and character depth can be explained pretty decently

Sloppy writing and shallow characters? Are we fans of the same show?
I mean, the writing and characters aren't the best ever made, but I dare any of you to make a better series.

Just because you can't personally do better doesn't mean you can't criticise.

Also just because something is animated doesn't mean that things like plot don't matter. It's just a medium for telling a story, same as a book or a live action tv show or movie. Same standards can be applied to it.

Star Wars has less than perfect writing, poor dialogue, plot holes, and shallow characterization too.
Doesn't make it any less beloved by everyone, ages 9 to 99.

Think of it as how a Saiyan's entire outfit can change if they go Super Saiyan.

So....His shoes are Super Saiyan 4?

Here's the the glorious position of being part of DBZ forums' prestiged Member #OVER 9000 club.

Dragon Ball Z is what made the mangas we have here today the mangas they are. It is the pinnacle of the quintessential action shounen anime/manga that boomed a genre to the max. Without it, we wouldn't be here on this Forum, or any other shounen forum out there.
