Did Chiaotzu Actually Train with Tien?

Bow Down!

Some people say that he really isn't a fighter, never actually trains at all, I think they spar together but others say that Chiaotzu just watched Tien train after the Frieza saga. They were both shown hovering over a waterfall in GT in their uniforms so I'm guessing they were sparring, your thoughts?

At some point he became a guy to spar with I bet. Before that he trained for sure.

People seem to misunderstand what "Power" in Dragon Ball actually means. It's not specifically a measurement on physical strength. It really refers to everything that makes a fighter strong, such as skill and mental capacity in addition to physical strength.

Canon wise, I have a hard time believing that Chaotzu would do any serious training past the time he'd spent on Kaiosama's. He might have sparred with Tenshinhan to stay in shape physically and mentally, but that's about it.

Similar to Goku in the five year gap between the end of DB and beginning of Z. Goku trained, but it was just enough to keep himself in shape, not actually gain power. Piccolo also in this time didn't really gain power, but he was "stronger" than at the end of DB in the sense that he'd trained to develop his skills with ki manipulation.

I have a theory that Tenshinhan relies more on his Shishinoken technique and spars with his "clones". Also in the filler scene after the Garlic Jr. saga he using Chiaotzu to practice the precision of his Ki blasts, so i think that scene show his role in Tenshinhans training.

According to AT, the two train together when they're not farming.

The resident GT fan!

I him he was training but he never made nearly as much gains as the other humans so eventually he became a sparring Partner for Tien ^_^
