Watching sports with people

Everytime I watch sports with my friends they all feel the need to stare at their phones and read twitter about the game they should be watching. Anyone else find this a bit weird? The game is right in front of you, why are you reading about it... Seems like the only person I can watch with is my Dad now...

I always just watch. If I don't know players I might go online and see who's who. That's if I'm watching a live stream. If I'm watching it on TV then I just watch it. I don't know anyone who does it like you're saying but then again I've only watched soccer with my dad there (or my mum talking over it all) and one of my uncles several times when I was like 16 I stayed at my nan's house where he lives and he'd come home from work at like 2am or 3am and he'd watch Match of the Day and The Football League Show that he'd have recorded with Sky+'s recording function. I've also watched a little American Football with my cousins but never a whole game. The one who cares about it supports Ravens.

Leve Feyenoord 1!

I've only used internet once while watching sports, and that was because my TV was broken and I had to find a live stream...

If I'm really interested in the game, I just watch it. But if it's something that I want to watch but not too intently, I'll have my laptop there and interchange between watching the game and general internetting.

With basketball I usually have to watch it online with League Pass, so I'll watch it, but in between ad breaks I'll go online until it comes back on.

One day maybe I'll be famous and "tweet" about how much of a legend Mikel Arteta is.

That is probably the worst thing about people today.

Freakin' hate that, go on a date with someone and all their doing is checking their phone but are actually interested >_< focus on the date then fool.

Future marriages are going to suck, will people even actually talk to each other or will they sit next to each other and text?

Anyway I hate watching sports with people because I've never been and will never be the sort of person to jump up and shout YOU f***ING BASTARDS or YEAHHH GET IN THERE! when something happens, then people look at me as though I'm abnormal.
Really, you're shouting at the TV dude...

Imagine 99.99% of the population were like me, the ones that get up and shout at the TV would probably be sectioned...
That's how I view them anyway

Yeah I've always been like that, even when I support the team that's scored. I'm happy about it :P But it feels more natural just to clench my fist and say "Yes!" or something, rather than go completely loopy.

And people's obsession with their phones could be topic all by itself. That's definitely a path society is taking that I can't get on board with. I mean up until recently, the only thing my phone could do was text and call :P Even now, I have a new phone, but I barely use it.

That's my Dad. He goes crazy its extremely funny.

Its like when your friends at your house and all they do is text. wtf are you doing

These are friends that call themselves huge fans. My cousin does this, biggest yankee fan Ive ever seen, I just think its weird. You are clearly not watching the game.

Yeah I guess I'll be the weird guy and say I love being with a crowd of friends watching a game and cheer for a team. Scream at the TV. All that jazz. Love it.
I hate it when someone sucks the mood out by texting or something along those lines. Even worse when watching a movie.

Wow, it is weird indeed. Who needs to be on twitter during a game?

@Steve- You would hate watching a game with me then.

You wouldnt need twitter if you watched a game with my brother and me. When I watched games with my brother, him and I were the same. We just shouted all the time at the t.v. It can get pretty heated when I am watching a game like all the time. I think I learned it from my brother because he'd run inside a closet when Spain were in the World cup. I remember when they lost to South Korea...Oh man he shut himself in the closet and slammed the door so hard. He was really that upset. I think that was the first time I saw him cry. :T_T:

I'm very similar now. During the Giants game, I ended up throwing a pillow at the ground or telling Gilbride to stop being stupid. Good thing my bf keeps me calm for the most part haha.

Some people find it comical while others find it irritating, but whatever it is how I am.

Edit: So yeah you wouldn't need a cell phone with all the action I'd supply.

I like it when people get angry when their team loses. It shows that you actually care about your team. I am one to get angry a lot, my Dad too. Its always more fun.

And movie texters, THE WORST.

The worst is if they text and drive. I can't stand when people are on their phone or texting while driving. It is so dangerous.

I rarely use my phone. I don't even have a smart phone to begin with. My phone goes like two weeks without charging because that is how little I use it.

Our generation is just obsessed with screens in general.

My phone's dead 90% of the time because I can never be bothered to charge it.

Their are very few games where my eyes are glued to the screen. The ones that do usually involved the playoffs, my team, or just a really really good game. But if I'm just watching cause it's on, I check my phone for my fantasy football updates.
