It's nothing about not wanting to go to school, I'm just stressed out. There is so much stress in my life right now, hell, I just got a 37% on my math progress report. Here is what is going on. 1. My sister has the WORST type of brain cancer, she has a 10-20% chance to live. 2. My dad abandoned me 2 years ago, on christmas day. 3. My brother accidentally ran over somebody with his car. I tried telling the teachers my problems, but they just ignore me and say "I don't care, you have to turn this in by tuesday, or you get a 0", what the hell? I tried telling my mom, she agrees, but for some reason she won't go through with it, please give me some advice. Edited by Cid, Sep 29 2013, 11:45 PM.

You can't really convince her to home school you since it takes a ton of commitment. If you ask me, I think you should just do your best in school to risk falling behind with home schooling. You may have a bad year, but you'd be falling way behind by being home schooled anyway. |

Sorry to hear about your hardships hope you get better. Say that you will learn more because you will have time to properly engage in your study than just sitting in class. Also mention the school environment will be stress full because of the pressure and the long hours which is not relaxing. I hated school too it had that prison feel for me.

You're exposed to bad things at school (Drugs, bullying etc.) You learn better in a smaller environment. |

I'm so sorry that you are going through these tough times. I wish they were better for you, but I feel like if you get home schooled, you will suffer more from the lack of social interaction. I think getting out, going to school, and trying your best will help you better in the long run. Either way, I don't think you should pressure your mom into that decision. You should just try your best in school. I'm sure there are guidance counselors that can help you out with what you're going through. Usually, teachers are understanding as well. |

Yeah, I think you have to think about your mum here. Home schooling would be a massive commitment and take a ton of time and effort on her part, and the issues that you mentioned (of which I'm sorry to hear that you've had to go through) aren't just issues for you, but for your mum as well. It sounds like she has a lot of stuff going on, without the commitments of home schooling. My advice would be to just knuckle down as much as possible at school. School sucks, everyone knows that, but you'll regret it in the future if you don't have a proper education. So yeah, do as well as you can in school, and use your family and friends as support. |

Homeschooling is actually suggested to damage kids because they can't socialize with others, therefore they don't know how to act around other people their age and/or make friends. |

I'm glad you came to that conclusion. Home schooling would have put a lot more pressure on your mom as well. |

I'd try to find a councillor at school though - there should be some form of system in place to help you get some additional support and maybe they can talk to your teachers about keeping things a little easier for your until you have began to deal with things a bit better. |
