I think the kicker pos is one of the most underrated in sports. If you can't get a touchdown field goals are the next best thing. And a field goal can ultimately decide a game. Look at the AFC Championship game 2 seasons ago and the Broncos-Ravens division round last season.

Yes, 100 times yes. If you have a s***ty kicker who misses a lot, chances are you will lose a lot of games. David Akers cost the Niners a game last year. Giants lost a ton of momentum last year. A good kicker is a very big part of the game. To be able to hit 50 yard FG's is so huge.

The kickers get the respect that they earn. I know it is a tough position, but lets face it. They don't do as much work on the field as everyone else which is similar to the punter. Their job is based off of whether or not they put in a field goal when they are called too. If your team does all the work to get you down there, it is up to you to kick the field goal. For instance, Josh Brown missed a 38 yard field goal for the Giants after our offense with terrible play calling managed to get down there. I'm pretty sure people were annoyed with him because he missed what is supposed to be a chip shot for most field goal kickers now and days.
