Crying for me is extremely therapeutic and its something I actually enjoy to do. I know this is conventionally weird to say, but I LOVE to cry. It feels extremely liberating and whenever I feel like crying I just allow myself to let it all out, even if its over something that no one else would cry for. I don't think it's a sign of weakness, I think it's a sign of strength. It means you're addressing your feelings and emotions and coming to terms with them instead of neglecting them or trying to cover them up with masks and artifacts.
I've been crying more in the past 2-3 days than I have in like a year, and it's been exhausting, but also very soothing and healthy for me.
The old cliche that crying cleanses the soul is ridiculously accurate for me personally.
that's deep.

Crying makes me feel ashamed tbh.
Why is that?
I guess it's because whenever i cried in front of people it broughte unwanted attention and I got embarrassed.

I cry mostly because I'm scared. This happens in periods of mental stress, and I just feel better after crying. It's a way to relieve stress.

I've rarely cried in the past few years. Just as responses to death or when I was getting over a break-up. I guess when I'm broken down emotionally. So for me it was because I was in a state of being vulnerable/sad/whatever and then crying, as opposed to having it the other way.

it's usually very cathartic for me from what I remember.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Does anyone else not cry at a relatives death but will cry over a good movie?

The first Pokémon movie still gets to me but my grandad dying didn't at all, only fictional things seem to do it for me even though obviously I know it's not real...

Crying is really weird in some cases like being scared, physiologically there is absolutely no point nor emotionally yet it still happens in many cases.

It's almost as if crying releases some undiscovered chemical that is literally stress/sadnes, when naturally provoked through emotion.

different chemicals are actually released depending on the type of crying you do

idk much else about it, though.

Lately, it makes me really hate myself. For a normal good person, I completely agree with Strawberry's sentiment, but for me, I can't help but see the uselessness in it. It won't make my life any better. It won't make the people who don't care about me suddenly care, and the people who DO care about me tend to ignore anything I do that doesn't benefit them. So in the end, I'll be crying alone. When I finish crying, I'll look puffy and red, so I won't want to go out. I'll have a headache, so I won't want to leave my apartment. Regardless of all this I can't help it, which is in itself even more frustrating.
Are you sure that's caring, though?
I'm not sure why you don't see yourself as a "normal good person", Smochi. I see you depreciating yourself a lot over the forum and it always breaks my heart when I see it because I see so much greatness in you and it seems you're constantly putting yourself down and overlooking all your good qualities. That probably has to do with your past experiences and the people you've met in your life, but I'd love to help you see the things you can't see about yourself and really own them.
As for crying, I don't think anyone looks particularly good after crying. I also get the headaches you mention and they can be really annoying, but I still don't understand what is it about crying that leaves people so frustrated and ashamed. That must have to do with that negative stigma associated with crying that tells you you're a weak person, which is why I made my first post saying I don't buy that meaning at all. When you're sincere with your emotions and take time to address them and being open about them you're being courageous -- it's not easy admitting to yourself that you're not feeling right about something, it can be overwhelming just accepting you're not okay. And crying can also be a good platform for you to clear your mind a bit and have a better disposition to come up with practical solutions for your problems. It's all about how you choose to look at it at the end of the day.

Hit me up with a PM if you want to have a more personal conversation and open up about your life or something. I'd gladly listen to you, chicka :)
For the most part when I put myself down, it's because I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor but would never want to use a mean joke on someone else, so I just use it on myself. I think being self-deprecating on it's own can be annoying, so I try really hard to shut up unless I know it'll make someone laugh.

And in normal good people, I mean people who don't deserve what happens to them. In my situation, while there may be things that I don't deserve morally, I systematically chose the way the rest of this year, and my life, would play out. I made my choices and STILL stand by them, so I could see why people would be annoyed at me crying about it. So at I guess I should rephrase it to say that lately, me crying has made me feel worse.

I don't cry unless something horrible has happened, like my sisters cancer, that made me bawl out like a little baby. Otherwise, crying isn't really possible for me.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I actually have extremely bad anxiety and as a result get extremely stressed very fast. I tend to over think things, begin to doubt my own abilities, and cry. I've honestly tried everything to not do this, but nothing works.

I don't want to point fingers, but I seriously blame my parents telling me to "Go to (your) room and think about what (you've) done". Now I tend to overthink things and get extremely upset over stupid sh*t.

I cried today, because I simultaneously lost all respect for someone, only for them to show they had a small bit of who they used to be in them. I miss her with all of my heart.
