His becoming a shut-in eventually led to his uncaring attitude; the flashbacks show us that he was only concerned with his online life and getting a job at the game company, a**hole otherwise. I can't conclude anything from that except that he's only looking out for himself. He's a drop-out, hikki, gives no damn about his parents - that all points to him turning into a reclusive prick. And like I said, he acted respectfully with that dude from the company (I used the word anti-social a post or two before bringing this up, but nothing else really seemed to work) because he wants in on the...company. People like Taira should be an annoyance to him, like Taira himself points out.

Taira mentions it when he claims Ryouta could've left him for dead at one point. Close enough.

I saw no good parts. There's no reason to believe they're there. You or me ignoring the good parts and the author not including them are two different things. You're also being extremely vague here with "good parts" and "bad parts." Of course everyone has those. How about "selfish" and "altruistic"? Those don't mix. If development was shown changing him to from selfish to selfless, then that'd be a different story.
