At 25, I haven't been in full time education for 7ish years, (Bloody Hell lol).

All he best to those attending School,College, University or any other form of education. It feels like it sucks, but if you look at it from the right perspective (that the better you do, the better qualifications you'll have, equalling better job prospects) then it'll fly by!

I see. Do they allow 5th year students in high school in NZ?

Is it nice over in Middle Earth?

Since when was Canada Middle Earth? lol

Says you. ;) You don't know my financial or medical situation. I am not interested in attending college if I don't even know what for. I can go back whenever I want. However, I need to work and sort of "find myself". I got all the time in the world to do whatever I want.

Sorry. I'm sort of ignorant with the situation College students face since i'm still in high school. You should do what's best for you.

I'm taking my time, making sure what I want my career to be before I start college, I just finished HS last year, so I'm taking a year off to work and make money. It isn't so bad tbh currently I'm making good money for someone my age, so I'm good I'll probably start college next year or next semester cuz it really is a priority, meh...

I'm doing the same thing with HS (only i'm staying 1 Sem then working the other Sem) so I can help pay tuition .

I officially finished my education 3 years ago, didn't go to University because I would have wasted my time and money going to Uni for the sake of it, as opposed to actually having an idea of what I wanted to do.

But I go back to school tomorrow, too. Teaching Assistant in a class of 6-year-olds. And seeing as this will be my first year specifically in their class ... I have no idea what to expect. ._.

Best of luck with school/College/University, to everyone who's going back! Wish you all the best!

Yeah, Uni is only good if you want to be a Lawyer/Doctor or something like that. The work load is absoultely crazy there which is the reason why i'm taking th College path.

I just finished my last university during the academic year that's just gone by. I'm a bit jealous of everyone else who gets to go back at the end of September. f***

Come back? You mean for commencement right?

Quote:

I'll start school in 2 weeks or something. I'll be in grade 10 which is AWESOME!

Your a lucky guy. You still have a lot of time to think about what your going to be doing in the working world. Keep your head up and explore all your options.

I started school last week. Its completely different here, i think it would be grade 12 or 13 ? but im in my last year of school now and plan on going to University next September

Good Luck!

This is now my third week in school. I'm currently in fifth grade (which means I have exams next year, and then it's on to university)

Fifth Grade? Lol fifth grade is when your 10 years old. I think your talking about a fifth year as in coming back an extra year in high school.

The school system in my country is not the same as in America or the UK.

We have:

Elementary School: 1st till 8th grade (1st and 2nd grade is the equivalent of American Kindergarten)
Middle School: There are different school levels, I'll list them from lowest to highest: Praktijk (Practical only), LWO, VMBO, MAVO, HAVO, VWO (My current education level) & Gymnasium (VWO + Latin & Greek)
Praktijk, LWO: 1st till 4th grade (then your education is done, you can look for work and try to fit into society for real)
VMBO & MAVO: 1st till 4th grade (then proceed to mid-level job education)
HAVO: 1st till 5th grade (then proceed to high-level job education)
VWO & Gymnasium: 1st till 6th grade (then proceed to University) (I'm currently in VWO 5th grade, after this I go to 6th grade and then on to University)

I'm from the Netherlands.

And you can't just pick which school system you do.

In 8th grade of Elementary school every student has to take a test, that test will test your intelligence in all kinds of stuff: math, language, etc.
You'll get a score between 1 and 50, the higher your score the the higher school system you are allowed to go to.

Yikes! You guys must have it hard there. In our system, you can pretty much do nothing for grades 1-8 and pass all the time. When you get to high school, that's when teachers start to fail you.

Yeah that's right, most people say it's worse, but the feeling of heading home and knowing you don't have to do anything anymore is great.
