My dad is obsessed with these types of shows, and it got me thinking: is there any real possibility of Big Foot, Mermaids, the Loche Ness Monster, etc., or is it just a form of entertainment to reel people in? One of my mottos is "anything is possible" (unless blatantly proven false, of course), so I try to keep an open mind, but it seems to me like these creatures are all hoaxes. Has there ever been any solid evidence that hasn't been later proven to be a hoax? |

I don't see any reason why they couldn't exist, even if it seems improbable. I try not to discount anything just because it's a little weird ![]() That being said, I do think the 'legends' are being used to reel people in at the same time. |

I think at some point, people stopped caring about whether there really could be an animal like that, and started caring about how much money they could make off of the chase. Once you find the animal, the suspenseful hunt is over and so is the money being raked in. I certainly would hope some of those things exist. They're largely interesting. The Loche monster, though, I'm very skeptical about because of basically everything known about it turning out to be hoaxes. Big Foot and the like still seems possible, though. I think Nessie probably was real though, likely died before camera's were used often or produced good pictures. I don't see why not, could just be a dinosaur, birds, crocodiles, sharks and many other creatures survived the extinction event that killed most dinosaurs, Nessie could have been frozen as it was or in an egg in what would become Loch Ness millions of years later. Probably happened to a lot of dinosaur eggs but Nessie may have been one that miraculously survived. Other ones could just be mutations and such. But yeah I'm sure at least 99.99999% of the stuff is fake, just think how much tourism places get out of it. The main reason people go to Loch Ness is for a chance to see Nessie, not because of Urquhart Castle(how many of you even knew it was there?) I'd love for one or multiple to be confirmed, you'd think people would strive to discover them more because if one cryptid is real, perhaps more are? EVERYONE RENT OUT THIS GEAR AND GO HIKING AND ALSO INSURANCE oh and don't forget the gift shop and café. #money |

I have a book downstairs about all the mythical beasts in my state. I still have to read it, but I hear the Hodag is pretty interesting. |

I am very confident that something like Nessie existed. Some type of sea serpent dragon thing? Probably existed in the dinosaur era as we all know the crazy creatures from those times. As for now, it should have died off. |

I saw these shows for hours last night with my mom, haha. I don't think any of them are real. Nessie is an extinct dinosaur. To me, it seems like Sasquatch would have been found by now if real. The whole Mermaids thing was interesting but likely just misreported sea creatures. Are there undiscovered natural anomalies? Yes. But nothing too crazy like any of the mythical beasts IMO. |

I believe this is the most famous and clear bigfoot footage out there. You see it at the 2:49 mark i believe. A few things that should be pointed out about this footage. The camera being used came with two default lenses. The camera person was using a different lens than what he believed he was using. They worked this out because the dimensions of everything in the footage wouldn't have made any sense otherwise. Knowing this, they could calculate how big Bigfoot was in this footage. It was way too big to be a man in a suit. He couldn't have been using stilts because of how it was walking and the position of the knees and hips. Other things to point out. On remastered footage painstakingly made from the original film, you can see several things. First of all note how the creature turns it's whole shoulder to look around. Humans are the only known apes that can rotate their necks without needing to do this. I don't believe an amateur film crew from back when this was shot would have any understanding of ape physiology so they wouldn't think to include this if it was a man in a suit. Of course it could be because the suit might not have allowed for head turning, much like Tim Burton's Batman I suppose. Second, I apologies that you can't see too much detail in this footage but on the remastered version you could see muscles underneath the creature's skin moving as it walked. You could also see its breasts. There was no costume on Earth at the time which could achieve the illusion of muscles moving. The Planet of the Apes films were a few years after this and even those big budget hollywood costumes didn't come close to this kind of thing. In fact it's only in recent years that such a thing has been achieved and they are super expensive. Remember this is just two amateurs filming this. They had to access to that kind of money. The dimensions of the creature match a typical ape rather than a large human too. E.g the proportions of its legs and arms. I really don't believe that this is a person in a suit. It would be way to advanced for the two guys filming. |

I feel like any land creatures the size of Bigfoot would have been discovered by now. A Yeti is more likely because it's a harder habitat to explore, but again I'm not sure it would have gone undiscovered so long. It's not like they would be smart enough that they were actively avoiding being found. They're big enough that they'd be predators, and you don't see Bears, Lions, Tigers, Gorillas etc hiding. They don't care about being found because they're confident enough in their abilities to threaten and fight. As for the Loch Ness or Mermaids, I think that's more likely. I'm not sure of the exact percentage, but it's pretty well known that most of the ocean is unexplored, which makes the odds of something like that existing higher. The problem I have with mermaids is that they would have to be an evolutionary split-off of humans, and there's just no way our land ancestors could have gone back in the water long enough to evolve aquatic features. |

It looked even better after some guy on tv remastered the footage and zoomed in and analysed it. You could see its face and the skin moving under it's hair. |
