The Greatest Manga of All Time; One Piece; Highlighting the most popular anime/manga series ever

There isn't a load of fighting everywhere though. Nowhere near as much as something like dbz. Plus, the characters are imo very original. All characters worth mentioning have a great backstory, good development and overall great character design.
Also, the devil fruit idea and the hundreds of devil fruit powers Oda has come up with are amazing, and add that much more to every character that obtains a power.

Also, as Wolf said, the manga covers alot of problems in the world, and gives the heros actual reasons to want to fight the bad guys. Its not just "If we don't kill this guy he'll destroy the world!" which is a good sign in any series. The author isn't afraid to kill a somewhat main character, and on top of that, Luffy isn't always the one that kills the enemy. The whole crew and many others are involved. The battle of Marineford is a good example of this. Even in the current arc, it seems Luffy won't be the one to defeat the main villain.

Just a few reasons I love One Piece.

Stereotypical characters with lazy character designs & ( later poor animation thz to TOEI).

He's renowned as one of the very few shounen mangaka with an ounce of originality left in creating characters.
I dont care if this is One-piece glorifying thread, but those who glorify OP clearly hasn't seen many good anime's.

Luffy, the captain is a stereotypical shounen protagonist which makes him though funny at times, a complete retard who never thinks but acts based on his moral values.

He just eats or sleeps while u talk to him, and has no touch with the surrounds, which makes him funny but obnoxious after a point.

Especially, after the time-skip, he acts even more stupid than before, which contradicts all he is supposed to learn.

One-Piece focused almost entirely on personal gimmicks, rather than characterizations. But of course, its still a shounen anime, with unrealistic & immaturity at its core, which 1 should never try to reason too much.

I admit its enjoyable & faster progression (far superior to Naruto & Bleach), but every now & then the pacing & animation drops significantly.

Which explains why One-Piece isn't the best manga of all-time.

I dont care what brainless fanboys gonna say, since the only thing they managed to do was destroy its credibility with their stupid claims.

'Anime' is both singular and plural.

Don't just say this, give me the examples of other protagonist and tell me why they're similar.

What gimmicks? The story itself can be told through history and unlike mainstream shounen themes (power of friendship, getting stronger just for the next guy and never losing) OP focuses on political and social issues like government control, rebels, balancing what's right with your agenda, etc.

At least I'm giving examples in the thread and not spouting 'it's the best of all time because it's awesome' which is what you're doing but the opposite. You're not even trying to back up any of your claims you're pretending your viewpoint is somehow factual yet there is no evidence provided.

Thats a good point, Most of the time Luffy doesn't just somehow get stronger or pull a 7th transformation out of his a*** for the next villain. It flows nicely unlike other shounen anime/manga

I agree with Steve as far as why people like OP not really being for the plot. A lot of people like it just think the characters and fights are cool. But that doesn't take away the fact that there is more to it than that.

Luffy is a quite stereotypical character especially to begin with, but why he behaves in the way he does (not much respect for authority, valuing his crew so much) is explained just before the time skip when the bulk of his backstory is shown. Luffy is not the only main character in One Piece though. There are several other crew members, and dozens of other characters that are unique and are well developed (development being knowing what in the past makes characters act how they act, being able to guess how a character would act/being able to understand how a character thinks).

Character Designs: Bleach > One Piece
Story: Bleach > One Piece, dafuq is the current plot of OP?
Characters: Bleach > One Piece

One Piece is sub-par imo.

The majority of Bleach is complete trash. I do like the art, though.

I have the One Piece manga box set on preorder. I'm excited. ^_^

yusssss

Bleach's art is only good for the character designs. One Piece character designs are inferior, sure, but the backgrounds are pretty detailed.

Thats because you kept skipping a big chunk (sometimes half) of most of the arcs

I don't think that One Piece could ever top my favorite/greatest manga of all time, but it's definitely more consistent and a better piece of story-telling than Bleach and Naruto (even though Naruto will always be super close to my heart).

We are speaking of the Bleach written by Tite Kubo, in case you misunderstood..

The Tite Kubo who wrote the slowest arc of all time, one of the most clusterf***ed arcs of all time, and manga material inferior to the anime adaptation's filler arcs.

Why was Bleach brought up, anyway? I looked back and couldn't figure it out.

Because of post #36
edit: well not because of that but that's when it was brought up. Brought up because Syn was saying it's not the best, and then saying that Bleach being better is one reason why.

I could never get into One Piece. I seriously tied to get into it, but never could. Not to mention I found the artwork to be an absolute eyesore.
I found the story too childish, not enough adult humor. Also, One Piece is hardly the "greatest manga ever made". There's plenty of other manga series out there that are better.
