Crazy Awesome Legend

This does look like a top cast and crew. I don't know how they can go wrong with this lot. It surely has to be better than the Jeff Goldblum version. I don't see it getting many Oscars though. Perhaps for visual effects or musical score but that's pretty much it. I mean when was the last time a monster movie won an Oscar?

Oscars tend to go to biopics and historical dramas.

Yeah, for sure. Maybe for Supporting Actor/Actress, since Juliette won an Oscar, and Cranston is always Oscar bait as well.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

What's the budget like? Would hate for it to turn out like a B-movie...
And hopefully it won't be dudes in big suits like the Japanese versions.

I think monster movies are great, there aren't enough good ones but plenty that act it like Cloverfield or Monsters which contain barely anything to do with monsters....

looking forward to this, from what ive seen from various posters and youtube vids, godzilla is going to be huge, say over 100 metres (300feet) range, and is going to resemble my favourite version from the 1990's godzilla, when he fights King Ghidorah/ Mecha Ghidorah...
Lets hope its got a proper monster and some good action with a solid script.

I love both of these movies. Especially clover.

Pretty keen for this movie. Lets see if it can top Pacific Rim.

I liked Cloverfield, but it wasn't really much of a monster movie, not for what you watch on for. If you go to see a monster movie you expect lot's of action and destruction but both those movies lacked it but were portrayed like what you'd expect.

So they were terrible as monster movies is what I mean.

Is Godzilla going to have the crazy laserbeam thing?
I like all the old movies but I hope they don't make this one quite as far fetched.
Laser is win though that will look awesome in CGI.

Also hopefully we get a monster battle not man made robots fighting Godzilla since that's what Pacific Rim just done.

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Gareth Edwards directs GODZILLA which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (KICK-ASS), Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (THE LAST SAMURAI, INCEPTION), Elizabeth Olsen (MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE), Oscar winner Juliette Binoche (THE ENGLISH PATIENT, COSMOPOLIS), and Sally Hawkins (BLUE JASMINE), with Oscar nominee David Strathairn (GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK., THE BOURNE LEGACY) and Bryan Cranston (ARGO, TV’s BREAKING BAD).

Edwards directs from a screenplay by Max Borenstein and Oscar nominee Frank Darabont (THE GREEN MILE, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION), story by David Callaham and Max Borenstein, based on the character “Godzilla” owned and created by TOHO CO., LTD. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Patricia Whitcher and Alex Garcia are serving as executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno (GODZILLA VS HEDORAH) and Kenji Okuhira.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (ANNA KARENINA, ATONEMENT); production designer Owen Paterson (THE MATRIX trilogy); editor Bob Ducsay (LOOPER); Oscar-nominated costume designer Sharen Davis (DREAMGIRLS, RAY, DJANGO UNCHAINED); and Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Jim Rygiel (the LORD OF THE RINGS films). The score is being created by Oscar-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat (ARGO, THE KING’S SPEECH).

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures present a Legendary Pictures production, a Gareth Edwards film, GODZILLA. Slated to open on May 16, 2014, the film is expected to be presented in 3D, 2D and IMAX in select theatres and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, except in Japan, where it will be distributed by Toho Co., Ltd.

Legendary Pictures is a division of Legendary Entertainment.
