Miley Cyrus on the VMA's

She's a grown woman; she can do whatever the hell she wants. How come she's a big target? Because people have something to talk about now.

Good point about Lady Gaga. It's Miley's own style. All entertainers have their own style and people need to accept that. If people are so sketchy about it, then they should make their kids stop watching when they realize that's not the same role model that was there for their kids when she was younger. It's not her responsibility to continue that role. Just like it wasn't her responsibility in the first place - as well as it's not her responsibility to impress anyone, even though that's kinda what she does as an entertainer.

Once someone else does something "out of the ordinary" she'll be forgotten.

Let the girl do her thing is basically what I'm saying.

It looks like a combination of Lady Gaga and Pink (her style, that is).

I'm not enraged over this. I don't really care, actually. I'd rather she just up and left the planet along with her peers, but that's just me.

God, she's so ugly doing that "twerking" crap. At least have curves if you attempt that...

She's speaking out to all the guys in the world. TV is too sexualized.
It's not as a whole, the problem is 95% of TV's sexualization is aimed towards straight men.

I think she didn't look good at all anyway. I enjoy other sexualized performances (have always loved me some Madonna), Miley Cyrus's performance just looked trashy and stupid to me.

I think she's a train wreck, but I honestly like her better now than I did a few years ago. Either way, she's not attractive at all doing those stupid dance moves and wasn't as Hannah Montana either.

cant be a role model for kids forever. all people go through their own phases, shes old enough to decide what she wants to do and how she wants to act so I could care less.

and shes really hot

People aren't really butthurt over this, actually. It's just that twerking on TV at an event that should be aknowledged as important isn't really the wisest thing to do, because you'll get hate. Especially if you're doing it for attention.

As Drew said it isn't about being an adult or a role model for kids, it's about having self-respect.

Plus, it wasn't a live concert or a musical video, it was the VMA awards cerimony. It's about respecting the other artists too.

I don't know about you guys, but my facebook has been blowing up over it. I'd call that butthurt.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it butthurt tbh.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Unless an object was inserted brutally into someone's rectum I am not sure how this could make them "butthurt".

The Onion predicted this back in 2008: http://popwatch.ew.com/2013/08/26/the-onion-miley-cyrus-video/

My opinion? She can do whatever she wants. It's her life. Her decisions with their consequences. Miley Cyrus was a childhood star. The overwhelming public reaction is what she did this for. What does she really have left? Doing this was the best and easiest way to draw attention to herself. It clearly worked.

Yes, it did work as a mean to get attention.

But it didn't really get a lot of positive attention, most of the comments about her twerking were negative.

So? If you think she just went out and did this spontaneously you're wrong. Her and whoever represents her obviously went over all of this in depth. At this point, any attention is a good thing. It's sad, but, it really was her best move.

I don't see why people would get butthurt. I thought it was weird what she was doing. I am not angry about it.

I just disagree with that being displayed as actual talent. Any moderately hot girl could've done the same if they wanted to.

I briefly looked up from what I was attending to when my friends exclaimed as she came out dressed up like that. I paid attention for all of five or ten seconds.
