Stronger since when? If he only got his powers back....whenever it was, Arrancar arc or whatever I doubt he could have got back up to his level when he was a Captain in like less than a year. Considering how much Yoruichi lost with just not training it's hard to believe Isshin would have bridged the gap after totally losing his powers for years in less than a year. |

He pushed Aizen to his limits in base, and held his own against Chrysalis Aizen. That's not enough for you? Shunsui just got oneshotted. |

1. Yamamato 2. Aizen 3. Kenpachi 4,5. Unohana<=>Urahara Based on nothing more than hunches really. Isshin is strong but I don't see him being stronger than Unohana for some reason. I couldn't put Urahara above Unohana either. Or lower for that matter. |

Kyoraku and Ukitake should be above Unohana. She's got hasn't got any solid feats to put her above them and Yamamoto specifically said that those two were the strongest. |

Statements are retconned all the time in Bleach so I'm fine with that for now. I think the fact that she was given the titlle Kenpachi would put her as the strongest captain since none of the other gotei captains were.

Her statements and feats put her to as strong as Shikai Yamamoto, probably just a bit stronger. Isshin without using his Zanpaktou was holding his own against Chrysalis Aizen, and he was beating Base Aizen. With Shikai, I could see him rivaling Shikai Yamamoto, probably just a little tad weaker. 1- Monster Aizen (injured Post-Dangai Ichigo who currently holds the strongest badge in Bleach). 2- Bankai Yamamoto (his feats and statements put him near the Transcendent, near Butterfly Aizen who's weaker than Monster Aizen). 3- Bankai Unohana (her feats and statements put her at or above Shikai Yamamoto). 4- Bankai Gin (managed to kill Post-Chrysalis Aizen). 5- Base Isshin (flicked Shinigami Aizen like nothing, held his own against Chrysalis Aizen). Those are the top 5 captains at their peak. |

It's impossible to argue Unohona > Current Kenpachi/Kid Kenpachi because the latest statement was outright saying he was stronger. Not only that, but she sacrificed herself because he was stronger. |

What statements? The one about her being the "strongest shinigami"? That wasn't even written by Kubo. (http://dbzf.co.uk/single/?p=8773007&t=8420624) Her feats are nothing special, she beat Kenpachi. Plenty of people could have done that. Edited by IllogicalGlory, Aug 26 2013, 03:16 AM.

Unohana died in chapter 526. There's nothing about her in 529... What are you saying? |

Her knowledge of Kendo does not necessarily mean that she has greater spiritual power than her juniors. I'm fairly certain that Kubo actually had the idea for Unohana's story at the point, too. Why? After all, "Yachiru" does mean "8,000 styles" or something like and it was mentioned that Yachiru (pink-haired one) was named after the only person Kenpachi ever respected, and of course, all the Squad 11 goons are scared to death of her. Given all that, it's likely that Unohana's backstory at least had a framework. Isshin vs Aizen - play-by-play Pre fight: Aizen is somewhat uninterested in Isshin's appearance, Isshin is confident. Isshin chops up the building that Aizen is standing on, seemingly from a long distance, which demonstrates his knowledge of kendo. Aizen is unimpressed. Isshin charges Aizen. While their blades are locked, he flips Aizen off, which seems to be some type of technique. Aizen's eyes widen and he is sent flying through three buildings. Aizen goes on the offensive and charges Kurosaki, who attacks him with a powerful two-handed swing, slamming Aizen into the ground (Aizen is now on the defensive). Isshin follows up with a second swing, which Aizen dodges. Aizen sticks his hand out and unleashes Hado #63: Raikoho, which causes a large explosion. Isshin appears to have dodged it. Note: this is the first successful attack that Aizen makes (the two of them fight for the same amount of time Ichigo and Gin were fighting, I guess) Both look tired, Isshin remarks that Aizen is getting slow. Aizen confirms this. This was not a tussle, it was a serious fight and from what we saw of it, Isshin exceeded Aizen in every single way. He exceeded his strength by sending him flying with his middle finger technique, he exceeds his speed by dodging a point blank Raikoho and his superiority in speed is further demonstrated by his insulting Aizen's speed at the end of their fight. Kyoraku, along with a few of his colleagues, were defeated in one panel by Aizen, Isshin fought him for a length of multiple chapters and was unharmed. |

But Yama says those two are stronger than "anyone who came before or since." Maybe as a whole they were stronger than the current crop, but Kyoraku and Ukitake must exceed them based on what Yamamoto said. Edited by IllogicalGlory, Aug 27 2013, 02:42 AM.
