Yeah, I can see how using two fingers at the same time might be too complex for someone like you. |

C'mon guys, no need for this. I can understand the appeal of WASD, but it just doesn't work for me. I prefer using a control stick or a D-pad; it's how I've always played my games and I just get more satisfaction out of playing it like that. |

No you just turn towards a diagonal and run in that direction. Just like with analog sticks except the mouse is the right stick. And I would rather show you how it's more efficient. Watching a few minutes of that made me nauseous but you see how quickly they can zip around? WASD. |

Even though you use two fingers to move with both analogs anyway...try again.
That doesn't really work when you're aim is to be moving diagonally and shooting at someone in front of you though unless you want to be charging right at them which is suicide obviously. It's inefficient and there's a lot of room for error you could accidentally press Q or E in a heated moment which might do some action like throw a grenade which will just get you killed. Literally no risk of that with analogs it's kind of hard to slip from one to the back of the controller. |

so what's the issue exactly if you said, "Like wow you have to hold two buttons to go in a diagonal line, that's cute." lol fyi i'm not saying one's better than the other; i think both have their pros especially if you take it across different genres. i just found it odd how you probably dont have much experience with something but then make a quick judgment on it like you know everything. admittedly i'm assuming here based on other discussions with you. complaining about wasd for movement is something i've only ever heard from people who are new to using it. further supports my point that youre relatively new to using a keyboard and mouse. that's pretty much like saying you might press r2 instead of r1 on the ps controllers. obv it doesnt happen much if at all once you're used to it. Well you only use one thumb to move other to look. Not really I've played Minecraft a lot and are decent at it(just don't ask me to make something pretty) If you have to take your fingers away from the WASD keys you can easily press the wrong one if you do it without looking no matter how good you are at touchtyping if something surprises you and requires you to slam down on one direction you might miss and die due to it. With a controller you mostly only have to move your thumbs ever where keyboard commands can be laid out all over the place and can't always be bound to other keys. Using a mouse is better for precision aiming but a controller is better for mobility. Try jumping round in circles with WASD while facing one direction shooting at someone you'll see what I mean. Is there no combination of the two? A mouse and something like a Wii's Nunchuck maybe for ease that'd be the ultimate control system provided a keyboard is there for typing if necessary. |

I'm more comfortable using a controller than a mouse and keyboard myself, especially with faster paced games like shooters. |

I'm a bit of a mouse and keyboard purist. I even play emulated games with it. I rock Star Fox 64 and FFVII: Crisis Core with mouse and keyboard (actually, just keyboard). I also play Metal Gear Rising with the mouse and keyboard. |

depends on the game but i've been able to do it before. just depends on whether the game has a mechanic that reduces aim while jumping or not.
yup. easy, right? okay. |

Console games are itinerantly easier due to the control scheme and limitations, something which started to infect PC games, with P2P servers rather than Dedicated with some games, capped FOV, capped FPS. PCs don't suffer from the same limitations as a console, yet we still end up with some of the same nonsense because of lazy companies. WSAD control method is easy, most of the buttons are in that area, r, q, shift, control, tab, e, f, x and so forth, also, PC games are rebindable with keys unless some developer has been lazy. Console games don't let you rebind keys, you get different layouts, sure, but the games are easier because of the control method. PC games have precision, if you really can't use all the keys on a keyboard, there's always a gaming mouse, even more buttons! If you want an easy game, consoles are better, or if you want super easy, mobile phones... |

When it comes to aiming yeah, like I said it feels more like a point and click game to me it's like oh there's someone's head lets click on it rather than swing the gun around and time it right. Aiming being easy is just meh, it's much more satisfying when it takes some skill to pull it off. I still don't see why people consider PC games to be more difficult, games such as? MMO's aren't hard, RTS games can be but just because there's less of them on console doesn't make it PC exclusive difficulty. Shooting games are just the same as arefighting games. Indies can be difficult but hardly a fair comparison since people can make and put whatever they want on Steam no matter how stupid it is. Where are these supposedly difficult games only genius PC players can play? There are a lot of dumbed down games on console but most of them are on PC too so...yeah. Lot of those are suitable for kids too so why should they be hard. Edited by Steve, Jan 3 2015, 06:56 PM.

The Temple of Elemental Evil is an extremely difficult PC game. In Red Orchestra you will die every ten seconds if you are not a pro. The Civilisation games on any difficulty above easiest require experience of the game to beat them. Half Life 2 was quite hard. Game Developer Tycoon is hard. The Ultima and the Might and Magic games are impossible without guides. I could go on and on so stop prejudging things when you don't know anything about them. |

you seriously need to stop spewing that out when at the same time you talk about how difficult some things are. youve just pretty much said how it's difficult for you to use wasd for movement because you feel that it's easier to make mistakes. yeah there's room for error but honestly if you play enough then it's not a problem at all. i play pc games way more than console games, and i only class myself a step above a casual gamer -- i'm no pro or anything -- but the mistakes i make are more to do with bad decisions, such as choosing to reload at the wrong moment or whatever, rather than because i accidentally pressed the wrong key... unless i'm playing while drunk, but even then it rarely happens just because i've played enough to know where the keys are, just like how you know where your buttons are on your control pad. so dont give me that "it's more satisfying when it takes skill to pull off" bs when you've just been talking about how difficult you think it is to use keyboard and mouse for the past few posts. this times a billion. |

You can use any console controller on a PC anyway. |
