I just may be buying one to play Smash. But, I may not. I'm getting really stingy with my money.

I was really struggling on whether to or not because of money. Then my mom told me if I cleaned the basement to the point of where it hasn't looked in years she'd buy me one. So that's what I did and she bought me one lol. Took me forever, but it was well worth it.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I've still never really seen the point in getting a console for one game really, seems like a risk to me.

The Switch is certainly doing well but it's predecessor was a huge waste of money for a lot of people. Wouldn't buy a console unless I knew tons of games I like would be out on it.

Considering Sony seems to focus more on PSX and Nintendo tends to do it's own thing with Directs at random, I wonder if E3 could ever just kinda die? Like if all the buy guys start doing their own shows and putting less in to E3 it might become a pretty weak event.
If you took Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo out of it then it sure as s*** would be, I think only Bethesda and Ubisoft had good ones.
Discounting Devolver Digital because they're there to be insane. They only showed like 3 games otherwise.

If anyone hasn't watched theirs here it is, not too long and you can just skip the actual game stuff.
I'm so glad we're in a position where one company can get away with just taking the piss out of the industry like that.

The Wii U certainly was less successful compared to the Wii, but what wouldn't be? The Wii was incredibly popular, almost unreasonably so. I still think Wii U did well over the years mostly because of staple titles like Zelda, Mario and Smash Bros. Wii U is worth keeping for two games in particular (until they eventually port them to the Switch), Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. Two very good remakes.

Playing Fire Emblem Warriors right now, it's pretty dang good. Every Dynasty Warriors game I've played has been fantastic, I can't wait to see what they do next. I'm so fortunate that they've crossed over with some of my favorites--Zelda, Fire Emblem, and even Berserk. I'm going to pick up a gift card tomorrow after work so I can buy the season pass. Once I exhaust that game, I think I'll go and get Mario Odyssey. Tbh, I haven't played a Mario game since Super Mario Sunshine. That is of course not counting the games like Mario Kart.

Not many decent games for people who aren't already invested in a series though.

On the subject of Nintendo, is DS dead then? Like I said over a year ago the Switch must killed it.
There's no way they can really release a new handheld at this point that is justified in my opinion.
Because there's only two options, either it has to be more powerful than the Switch, which is silly. Or it has to be weaker than the Switch.
In which case...why not just have the Switch? Because it would doubtless be the superior handheld, more power could carry the DS series much better.

I hope they don't just drag along the DS and hold it's series' hostage when they could be much improved with Switch hardware, since they're putting Pokémon on Switch I have faith they're not doing that.
It'd be like Sony releasing another Vita nobody wants and keeping Gravity Rush on it forever.

Introducing the new QS, because why have two or even three screens when you can have FOUR for the maximum eye melting experience! QUAD SCREEN, pre-order now for two additional but non functional novety screens Nintendo claims no responsibility for any migraines, seizures or mutations caused by this product

I kind of spite Dynasty Warriors games at this point because whenever a new anime/manga based game comes out it's hard to be excited because more often than not it's just gonna be some DW clone with only slow grindy content.
The Berserk game was okay but it could have been much improved by being an actual Berserk game.

Something with gameplay similar to Asura's Wrath could have worked well.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Golf Story, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, DKC Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Pokken Tournament, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Stardew Valley and a bunch of games you can also get on Xbox One and PS4.

If that doesn't interest you in getting a Switch, nothing will.

Something that feels fresh and interesting would, most of those are just "More of the same" when you're not invested in their series as said.

Anyone here care about Beyond Good And Evil 2?

Pretty graphics and all but I find it so remarkably uninteresting, the Ubisoft logo sure doesn't help.
The open world and how it functions is impressive but there's just not a single thing about it otherwise that actually seems interesting, guarantee it's filled with your bog standard Ubisoft mission selection, convoy missions, stealth missions, some type of outpost thing you have to liberate, radio towers or something of the like, missions where you have to follow someone.

It really is amazing how if you boil down most of Ubisoft's open world series they are all just the same thing with a different coat of paint.

I couldn't disagree more with you "more of the same" conclusion. Nintendo is incredibly creative when it comes to re-inventing their series. To me, Zelda BoTW, while it didn't particularily grab me personally, was very different from any other Zelda game I've ever played. I'll agree that Zelda hasn't felt 'different' since Ocarina of Time, but I think BoTW is a step in the right direction for the series.

Aside from Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and the NSMB series, no Mario game feels the same. They've managed, once again, to make Mario feel super fresh with Super Mario Odyssey. It's probably the most linear 3D Mario game ever, but that doesn't hurt the game at all, it actually feels more compact with the direction it takes you. And they've added so many new puzzles and even a little bit of self-irony in there too. Easter eggs are off the charts.

Maybe Mario Kart hasn't changed all that much throughout the years, although they do always try new things (like adding more items, the ability to drive on walls, ceilings and underwater, and also the gliding function they added in Mario Kart 7), what can you do with a racing game? No racing game in history has been able to re-invent itself truly, it always feels like more of the same even with new engines.
Same goes for the fighting game Super Smash Bros. because they need to follow a certain formula to keep fans interested. Too much change can be a bad thing too.

The only game I'll give you for your "more of the same" comment is DKC Tropical Freeze. Though I think the addition of new kongs add to the charm and experience, the series has pretty much been the same since the beginning barring new engine from DKC Returns and on.

Aside from all of that, the Switch itself adds to travel ability. The fact that you can just grab the Switch and go anywhere with it, much like a 3DS, is an incredible feeling.

Eh, Zelda doesn't really do anything that makes me think "WOW, that is a must have experience"
It's an interesting idea but Zelda still peaked ages ago, going so general open world seemed to take a lot of focus off the story. I think Zelda works a lot better when you're always driven to complete the main quest.

Mario still seems the same to me, it's just a bigger collection of Mario things for otherwise the same content story loop it always has, not a bad game but there's nothing that draws me in to actually want to play it.

There isn't much they can do with Smash or Kart true but that doesn't change the fact that they are just the same thing over and over with minor differences and graphical updates between them. Kart being the worst offender there, it really only offers a different visual experience like driving on walls and ceilings doesn't actually change anything you can barely even notice it happening since you just kinda drive forward constantly, there aren't any perspective shifts that mess you up.
Though I guess that would be hard for children to deal with so it's fair enough but nothing makes me want that again, I'm not paying another £40 for that.

Smash is again the same, I'm not paying whatever it costs plus the price of a Switch just to play as Mewtwo again. The competitive side of the game never interested me and the only new edge to the game is that multiplayer side of it, which isn't interesting if you're not good at the game and have no drive to be excellent at it.

I've played enough online fighting games to probably never care about them again. You can only play Raging Blast online and get utterly wrecked by another person spamming a near endless combo with Vegito so much before the concept grows old. Try hards ruin multiplayer games.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but I honestly think you're misjudging the games or not seeing the bigger picture.
