Did you play Sea of Thieves? If you say no, I will not take your comment seriously because I will defend Rare to the end.
Have you?

I'm not sure if Rare are to blame but someone is, can see it being Microsoft. It literally seems like an unfinished or free to play game, eerily similar to No Man's Sky. I can certainly see corporate meddling.

Either way game is pretty dull, most people who enjoyed the beta were expecting way more since they said it was only like 30% of the content but the other 70%...is just more of the same stuff
It really doesn't matter if I've played it or not. You're the one who is saying it sucks, which you really shouldn't if you haven't played it. Don't judge the book by it's cover.
See I don't get this logic at all, why do I have to have played it? I've watched enough and read enough of it to know what the game is like, I'm not paying £50 to validate my opinion based on that arbitrary rule.

I don't see how it even makes sense.

Like if I hadn't seen Fight Club and someone told me that Brad Pitt's character was never real, and then I told other people that...is my view of the movie wrong even though I know the twist? Are all the reviews and videos of the game I've seen some sort of misleading conspiracy?

I've seen plenty to know it's a pretty crappy game for that price, it shouldn't even be £15 really.
There's like three different types of mission and three different enemy types and this epic Kraken is just tentacles that come out of the water, that's it.

That's ridiculously shallow for what is definitely a promising idea. It's a funny little indie game that's been put in big AAA shoes it simply doesn't fill.

not ambitious enough for the scope of the game they made.

I think this/Microsoft pushed them to pretend it's bigger than it is.

The combat system says this to me, the fact that people can fight for hours seems extremely short sighted.
So literally 4 people on each boat, you die and then 30 seconds later you respawn on your boat ready to fight again over and over until one side gives up, you can't win or lose, just get bored.

I don't think any thought was put in to PVP even though that's probably the thing people were most excited about, being a pirate game about looting and stealing everything.

Leve Feyenoord 1!

Got Far Cry 5 yesterday. I think they made a mistake since the game should be released march 27, but whatever. Game is a lot different but in a good way. I'm enjoying it.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

That's happened to me with a couple of games I've preordered online. Always a good feeling to get it earlier than you expected.

I was interested in getting that but 4 bored me half to death and 5 just...looks kinda the same really.

The weapon variety in those games is kinda lame, considering how whacky and dumb the series is I'd like to see more outrageous weapons. Most of them just feel kinda pointless, bow, sniper and LMG are all you ever need.

All I want from Far Cry these days is a game like Blood Dragon but full length.

5 definitely leans into the crazy a bit. Look up a video of the weapons on youtube, even just in thumbnails I've seen some interesting looking weapons and designs I'd expect to come out of Saints Row instead of Far Cry.

Also the love for Blood Dragon seems to have been answered. The season pass includes 3 scenario DLC's very akin to the parody theme of Blood Dragon, but instead of 80's action heroes we get an over the top, Tropic Thunder-esque Vietnam romp, a war against aliens set on Mars (literally one of the endings for Saints Row 3, funnily enough) and a COD zombies parody.

Also the map creator looks pretty zany, one of the pre-made maps is a surreal maze made out of clocks with a huge skybox of clock features and what look like nebulas. So if you like the weirder side of Far Cry this definitely seems like the best one to go for. Remains to be seen if any of the DLC will be on Blood Dragon's level of course but the map creator is in the hands of the fanbase so lord knows what you'll get out of that.

First time I tried getting into Far Cry 4, I couldn't. I stopped after I realized that you needed to do certain missions in the beginning to unlock the whole area, but around the time of the USA election I had two wisdom teeth removed and really got into the game for some reason. It's actually a really fun game, especially those mountain missions.

The biggest problem with the Far Cry franchise for me since the third one is that they're a bundle of great missions...spread out between hundreds of really boring repetitive ones that aren't even difficult, Outposts/Strongholds being somewhat of a challenge occasionally.

It's just like they take a dartboard of the map and just chuck X amount of hostage missions that are all the exact same, same for most outposts, a couple of hunting things per area, some fetch quests and then a whole mess of the towers.
And none of those have any story to them what so ever, they're all basically there just to unlock a gun or for you to complete the arbitrary number of missions to unlock the next area and see the big bad.
Who's either not the real big bad or is a fake one, then you have to slog through the next half of the map in exactly the same way.

Just urgh. Maybe I've been spoiled by proper RPG's and every quest having some sort of value, Far Cry games are just one big to do list with a couple of good missions sprinkled in. Stuff like burning the fields or marijuana and getting high from it.

Those DLC sound cool but I'm suspicious of how many there are, can't imagine they all have new maps or offer more than an hour or 2 of content.
I remember the disappointment of the season pass for 4 and it's uber boring Yeti DLC and then the rest of it was...just a couple of missions to get some syringes and a few weapons, which weren't that good or necessary...

Judging by the trailers the DLC's definitely have new maps. You're actually playing on the surface of Mars, or actually in the jungles of Vietnam, or fighting through what looks like old-west style towns and church courtyards in the zombie one.

I can agree with most of the flaws of the game but that doesn't mean the positives are diminished at all.

Also if it helps, the main villain is the main villain for the whole game, just as Pagan Min was still the final villain in 4 although arguably the way they handled him was far too interesting and in depth to just call him a villain.

I've seen more of it now and still not a fan personally, particularly the balance of the three slightly smaller big bads and how if you happen to beat two of them first you might end up with just the much easier one to defeat, which would obviously be unsatisfying.

FPS games need to work on their bosses. They're so rarely fun.
Either it's realistic and you kill them in one headshot, or it's unrealistic to the point of being annoying, where you can shoot them in the head 50 times and they're fine.
Or worst of all, just some QTE's. Screw that noise.

I hope Battlefield 1 inspires future FPS heavy titles to incorporate more advanced melee systems, that'd be way more fun.

In other news the legend himself, creator of Deadly Premonition, Swery, has launched his Kickstarter campaign for The Good Life after it failed on Fig.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/476090608/the-good-life?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=good%20life

I assume it will reach it's goal anyway given it's 10% of the way there on the day it was launched but I kinda want to donate, looks like such a weird, interesting game with quite a charming yet creepy aesthetic.

Plus you can ride sheep in it, is that not good enough? Of course it is.

There's a lot of rumours that it is but I doubt we'd see it for another year or two with RD2 coming out.

There's to be a trailer for Borderlands 3 out soon as well, guess E3 might have stuff in store for us.
I would expect RDR2, Borderlands 3 and then GTAVI, be dumb to release cashcows soon after each other.

I'd be very interested in another Vice City but I have no faith in it being a solid game that isn't filled with industry crap. If it somehow wasn't that be amazing.
It's so annoying because they'd get like 100x profit with all the hype anyway but no that's not enough, has to have horrible pay to win game balance.

My only concern is that if Rockstar is to make another GTA they'd have to make it even bigger than GTAV and Miami is a much smaller city than Los Angeles. What else could they add? I guess they could add islands off the coast of Miami that you could boat to, but that seems odd to add.

The only logical place to go from there is either New York or a city abroad like London or Paris. I wouldn't mind that option, actually.

Liberty City is already a parody of New York so I don't think they'd do any real life ones like that.
I believe one of the games was indeed set in London, 1 or 2 can't remember.

I don't think that would work since the games are a parody of American culture and in Britain the whole core of the game would have to be completely different, which would likely turn people off.
A similar IP set in Britain with it's on rules and formulas could be cool though.

I think Vice City would be fine, maybe there could be Vice City and another place, like how you used to unlock the other islands you could maybe just unlock another location entirely. That would be cool.

Or it could just be more like the real life area of Miami, if you look at it on the map there's quite a big chunk of land there with a couple of cities dotted around, as well as a nature reserve.
Maybe we could finally get Bigfoot in GTA.

Whatever they do I just hope they don't get lazy and do some cool DLC for the game, GTA needs something like Undead Nightmare. Easily one of the best DLC ever.

Liberty City = New York
Los Santos = Los Angeles
Vice City = Miami

Of course it's gonna be Liberty City.

Nah I doubt they'd go there a third time, III and IV were already set there it'd be a bit too samey I think.

Actually that would be the fourth time as GTA was set in Liberty City also. So yeah there's nothing really new to see there.

I really just want something like the San Andreas map but with more in it, some fun hunting and stuff.

No idea why they turned Los Santos in to just one small island when SA was huge, most of it was empty but the scale of it would be ideal for the next game. Being able to go to the other islands was one of the biggest thrills of the other games, hopefully they re-introduce that.

The sun soaked streets of Vice City would look gorgeous in modern graphics.
