Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I killed the Blood Starved Beast first or second try and wondered what the fuss was about, I have a habit of doing that with hard bosses in games then I get wrecked on supposedly easy ones...

I'm pretty confident that's either a boss I beat first try or I very nearly did and at the last second it did some bulls*** and got me then killed it the next time.

All in all Bloodborne has easily had the most satisfying bosses for me.

Their patterns felt the most like they were designed to f*** you up whereas in DS2 and 3 there's a lot of easily exploitable gaps or places where you can stand and just not get hit.

I've been playing Warhammer Vermintide 2 and it's pretty fun. It's like Left 4 Dead/2 except with rats and general vermins instead.

Blood Starved Beast was an absolute pushover in my first playthrough where I ran balanced stats, took me over 10 tries when I finally got there with my Dex bases character though. The threaded cane is a painful handicap for a starter weapon.

The fact you've cleared old Yharnam is good though, I imagine Djura (?) gave you a pretty hard time with his machine gun turret. After a few playthroughs it's one of my favourite areas because it's one of the only areas in the series where I genuinely had to watch my back because I couldn't just directly fight every threat around me.

I don't know if you've cleared the optional areas on either side of the chapel but Hemwick Charnel Lane is a pretty cool area if you're not too overleveled for it, most of my interest in this topic is genuinely just hearing about your first run through, I love Bloodborne and my first playthrough was amazing, I've never got to hear anyone else's first experiences piece by piece because none of my friends like how vague and constantly unforgiving the Souls series is, so I find this intriguing.
Yeah Djura was so annoying. I had to look up online how to make him friendly. So I headed over to that Unseen Village or whatever so I could enter the boss room and make Djura friendly. I have yet to beat that boss, Darkbeast Paarl. Granted I only tried fighting him once. Yesterday I beat Vicar Amelia on my second try. She wasn't too difficult, I managed to beat her on my second try. The first time the healing got me and she just overwhelmed me. The second time I realized I had some mist stuff in my inventory that stopped healing regeneration. So using that overtime she tried to heal made that fight so much easier and I beat her without too much difficulty. Right now I'm trying to make my way to what I believe is the Forbidden Forest.

Hypogean Gaol was a living nightmare my first time through, I found it by accident so I was creeping around worried about every new room and hoping I wasn't painfully underlevelled. I also found Paarl before I went up the next floor to find a lamp so that was also an unpleasant experience that I somehow remember fondly.

Definitely check out Hemwick Charnel Lane though, if you haven't already. Think after the boss there you unlock gem infusions for your weapons, or runes for your character. One or the other.

That's where the game got super easy for me, having regen is awesome.

Takes ages but circle around any boss and you can keep all your blood vials.

On an unrelated note I want more games with in depth healing systems, like Metal Gear Solid 3's CURE system, that was cool as f***.
If a game doesn't just have "Drink to magically regrow organs" style potions it's like ARMA where it's trying to be as realistic and boring as possible.

I want the happy medium where I have to apply specific types of first aid and such for specific ailments, rather than drink the purple thing to get rid of the purple status effect. Ug.

Yeah, I just got to Hemwick earlier. I took a break once I got to the lamp. Just had to go into forbidden so I could go to that clinic to get that item that allows you to enter Hemwick.

Is regeneration a rune?

It's a rune or a gem, I can't quite remember but you can get regen to the point where you'll get like 1 health every second or something, which isn't much but it sure helps if you're willing to wait around.

Most people seem to go for straight damage boosting but give in to the chicken in you and go for regen :D
Saved my a*** a ton of times anyway.

Dang that sounds really helpful

Wow, the Witch was actually pretty easy. First fight I had trouble figuring out what was going on. Second was super easy.

Regen only really helps when you're playing the overworld though, and again you have to wait around for it which can be a serious time drain, it does no favours at all during boss fights, especially when a lot of the more unforgiving ones like Logarius give you little to no breathing room as it is.

The DLC opens up a pair of great runes for use and I hope that if the rune system does come back for From's next project they lean more into the idea of full-on transformations. Playing as a beast or a celestial was awesome, if a little bit unrefined.

That's quite a hefty collection. I see that Wii U making a cameo :p

I've been pretty slacking really, I don't often buy new games but that mostly comes from my lack of a disposable income, living is expensive enough  last time I bought a game was Final Fantasy XV on release day, so that was November 2016.

I don't have too many Wii U games. I really only have the biggest titles, including Wind Waker HD on the harddrive.

As is often the case with Nintendo it's quality over quantity anyway, just a few good Nintendo games can prove as enjoyable and long-lasting as double the amount of games from most other publishers / developers.

Eh, I found it very helpful most of the bosses are pretty easy to dodge around until you have a smidgen of health back :p

I am tempted to boot it up and see how well I'd do now, I played very conservatively but Nioh changed my fighting style since it's a lot more unforgiving in a "You'll definitely die in 2-3 hits" sort of way.

I hope their next game just has some more in depth combat personally. Instead of a whole set of moves for each weapon I'd rather a set for select weapon types and for said sets to be much more involved, combo's and stuff. Monster Hunter World has spoiled me I think, having 14 set weapon types and hundreds of variations is awesome.

Or better yet they could just make a Berserk game already...

Beat Shadow of Yharnam on fourth try. I really feel like it shouldn't have taken me that many times, but whatever.

Edit: This is kind of funny, but I actually use the wooden shield. I probably use it more than my pistol.
