In the case of the Father that's intentional. You're meant to use the graves and trees as cover to buy you time between attacks and stunt his intense ranged aggression. The camera can be a problem at times but the first two boss arenas are cramped for a reason. Cleric Beast is meant to force you to be aggressive, ducking and weaving between attacks and staying up close instead of keeping distance and waiting for openings (which you can only make, they never just give you an opening.) As for Gascoigne, as said it teaches you how to fight other hunters and use the environement to avoid gunfire and work around or through attack patterns instead of trying to trade blows head on. Bloodborne is a masterclass in teaching as you play, even up to the half way point the bosses are still teaching you. |

I'd honestly rather not have the tombs, they get in my way. I have been going up the stairs to fight him in that area. It's still a tight space, but I haven't gotten him into his werewolf form at any other place. |

I didn't find so, usually it'd make it look up at it from the ground so it'd be way too zoomed in and awkward. |

That's weird, I don't look forward to that. I actually forgot about locking on in Dark Souls III and didn't end up doing it for a while until Aldrich lol. It usually makes these games so much easier. Edited by Son-Goku, Mar 10 2018, 03:10 AM.

I never really bother with it in games, same with auto aim. Always feels more fun to manually do stuff for me, I don't like it when games decide things for me if that makes sense. Seriously Disney, give us a proper MCU game, roaming around as the various characters saving people in cities and stuff would be cool as f***. We've had tons of Batman games, at least give us a Black Panther game now...with all the hype around the movie maybe they'd consider it. Probably not. I think they could make a good enough Black Panther game just by making one like the X-Men Origins based Wolverine game, that s*** was better than the movie. You could totally put Wakanda in a game, the vibrant scenery would look awesome. |

I mean, was Black Panther really more hyped than any other Marvel movie? I also don't see a Black Panther video game being very good. Maybe if it was based on the comics, but I never read those. |

Seems to be one of the most hyped so far as I can tell but it'd be one of the easier ones to make a game out of I think. An Avengers game would obviously be harder to balance and would require much more work. I can envision a Black Panther game that plays almost exactly like that Wolverine game being good, just a bit more modern and with a bit better budget ideally. The Captain America game had some potential: Considering how big the MCU is now Disney could easily throw enough money at a developer to make a quality game, I think that there was one of those rushed as f*** movie games so the quality reflects that, still like I said it had some potential. The faster pace of the Wolverine game would suit these characters more. This game, actual gameplay starts around 3:00: Obviously being MCU related they couldn't have it be as brutal as that but that would totally work as a Black Panther game given enough polishing, that was also a cheap game and it's one of the best movie licensed games ever. Even the Spoiler: click to toggle would totally work as a gamey super move of sorts. And then there's the technological side of things, wherein which you could be upgrading the suit or any gadgets. I think it'd be pretty kickass if they tried. At this stage I'd take anything well put together but I think Black Panther would be the most realistic and fun game they could do, obviously an Avengers game where you play as each character seamlessly and they all have their own campaigns would be awesome but damn would it be expensive. |

Ultimately I don't think a Black Panther game would work well as much as I would like it. It'd be very hard to make a game that suits both the character and the setting, makes sense plot-wise, and is not flacked intensely for being an Arkham clone. Something like Wakanda would greatly suit an Uncharted or Horizon-style gameplay, but I can't see Black Panter working in a balanced sense within these gameplay styles. One thing I could see if they did it right is a Mirror's Edge style game. T'Challa is all about mobility and acrobatics, and Wakanda would make a great playground for that kind of gameplay. The problem is working the combat system to be good, diverse, and actually work while also keeping the game interesting for more than 30 minutes / outside of a scripted and structured level design. Open world activity / side content and a decent plot would be hard though, I can't really see Black Panther doing well with fetch quests. Maybe dialogue options and a political sub-game to tie into some kind of morality system would help. |

That's exactly why I think a Wolverine-like game would be best, it's fast and visceral and would be easy to work cool mechanics in to, with some maybe exaggerated features. That whole Wolverine game was an exaggeration of the movie and it was awesome It'd work best as a linear game I think with stuff going on in Wakanda and outside, Wakanda itself would be easy to sell in a game. The scenery is gorgeous and vibrant. I'm uneducated on any of Black Panthers villains but I'm sure it could work like the Spider-Man movie games where the main threat is the movie villain but tons of other enemies show up in between, like how you'd get Rhino appearing around the time of the Raimi movies even though IIRC he was literally never mentioned. It's an old comic so surely he has dozens of interesting foes. At this point I don't think you can really avoid making an Arkham-like game for something like this without drastically altering the feel of it, it's not like being Arkham-like is a bad thing, in fact half the time it's used to advertise games. I don't often see people say it's bad because they tend to love how the Arkham games work. Obviously literally copying and pasting the formula would be cheap of them to do. |

The only problem is that hack n slash / beat 'em up games, especially in the superhero genre, are a very rapidly dying breed and now a very niche market. The only games of that genre that still succeed are either riding on nostalgia or very combo and scoreboard-central which I can't see working for Black Panther. The villains gallery could be great indeed, but I still feel like the Mirror's Edge style would be very fitting for Black Panther. Most of the Black Panther villains either fall into superhumans or warriors similar to himself, or gun-toting ranged villains like Klaw. I can see the boss fights being similar to the boss fights in Far Cry 3, but obviously more interactive and mobile, less QTE and restricted. The 1st person angle could make for some incredible set pieces as well, I've always felt that Mirror's Edge has been somewhat restricted by the realistic grounding it holds, including in regards to pacing where you can go from fluidly bounding across rooftops to coming to a near-dead stop while ascending a drain pipe or climbing a ledge. Black Panther would greatly offset these issues and have great opportunity for making the most of the motion-based gameplay. |

Beat Blood-Starved Beast on my fifth try. Main thing was just to avoid his attacks. It's a pretty easy pattern to learn. Poison sucked the most. The battle was a bit similar to the Dancer in DSIII, but not as easy. |

Blood Starved Beast was the hardest boss for me. I suppose it depends on your experience with these games. |

Yeah, if I played Bloodborne before Dark Souls III I probably wouldn't be as far as I am. Still though, this game is way more consuming that Dark Souls 3. There are a lot of things easier and harder. But overall they're probably about the same level of difficulty. |

Blood Starved Beast was an absolute pushover in my first playthrough where I ran balanced stats, took me over 10 tries when I finally got there with my Dex bases character though. The threaded cane is a painful handicap for a starter weapon. The fact you've cleared old Yharnam is good though, I imagine Djura (?) gave you a pretty hard time with his machine gun turret. After a few playthroughs it's one of my favourite areas because it's one of the only areas in the series where I genuinely had to watch my back because I couldn't just directly fight every threat around me. I don't know if you've cleared the optional areas on either side of the chapel but Hemwick Charnel Lane is a pretty cool area if you're not too overleveled for it, most of my interest in this topic is genuinely just hearing about your first run through, I love Bloodborne and my first playthrough was amazing, I've never got to hear anyone else's first experiences piece by piece because none of my friends like how vague and constantly unforgiving the Souls series is, so I find this intriguing. |
