There are many fantastic Indie games and they are low priced compared to more mainstream games. Plus some indie developers go on to produce brilliant triple A games.

There are good indie games and bad indie games. Just like "normal" games, really.
I'm thinking of learning to program in C# and make indie games.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I love things like Thomas Was Alone and LIMBO, I often find Indie games better than a good portion of mainstream games.

I'll play LIMBO over any of the recent Assassins Creed games any day.

That said I'm kind of bored of platform ones, standard left to right gameplay just gets dull especially when it's not presented as such I forget the name but one was sounding like Rambo you get a knife and have to fight Nazi's as this crazy commando dude, sounded epic and then it's just a regular platform game...

If it's simple then it's fun like Thomas Was Alone is just squares and rectangles yet a great game.

I don't mean to sound too patronising but I hope you aren't assuming that you can just create a playable game single handed. You need a person to make sprites/models, another person to create/manage the sound, someone to check through your code and make sure it's all correct and to industry standards. Probably other important stuff too. I dunno I only studied game design for a year so I only know how some of it works.

Agreed, if I've learned anything in my programming classes it's this; making a single complex object requires thought; but making lots of complicated objects for, say, a game? Good luck trying to do that single handedly, on top of doing the graphics and other such things.

Yeah it's probably better to start small with an iPod/Android app game just some basic thing with whatever idea you have for it and get more people on board to help and also to get feedback.

That or an internet game not sure which is easier I think if it's good an app would get it popular faster but it might be more awkward to get made as an app.

Thanks for the tips guys.I know a game is hard to program since you need spriters and musicians.

But i can always recolor sprites....

Learning how to program is great though. I would definitely still try to learn. if you get good then people will hire you to help with their stuff. Not always games but other cool things too.

Mmm, I wonder how games for androids and ipods are done, and in what language too. As for internet based games, at least on the likes of face and such, I thought those were flash based or java based?

Well yeah they're different but it would still be needed experience anyway.

March feels so long away now, MGS is all I really care about playing at the moment put AC4 on and it's just still meh and the first few games I had after the most recent Battlefield update if anything made it more broken.

Really hope developers don't all start selling us unfinished games all the time.

Flash and Java are pretty much defunct now. I think they use HTML5 now instead. Androids and IOS are compatible with C# and C++ I believe and I think that HTML5 will soon be a widely used thing too. But I don't doubt that other languages are probably be used to create applications too.

Android and IOS games are made on computers and then ported onto the devices where the touch controls are fine tuned.

HTML5, while supported by all major browsers, is not, as I know of, an official standard. They're still transitioning to it. It was supposed to be ready at the start of this year but it seems that didn't happen.

Ohhh. That's me sorted so. And isn't it true that android at least is Linux-like? If so then I really need to get to grips with that OS. But even basic terminal commands take me a while to figure out...ah the road to me being a mobile app developer will be long and adrious indeed.

Saw the end of TFS's Let's Play of Outlast. I'm curious to know what kind of trophies the ps will have for it.

Also my plus subscription ran out. But for once in a long while I don't feel pushed about renewing it, at least for the moment. The recent EU update didn't appeal much to me.

Yes but it will be the norm before long. So anyone thinking maybe they should learn how to program for internet games would be best learning about that instead of Flash which will probably be gone by the time you've learned how to use it.

Java is actually one of the most used languages.

Flash is used in youtube, for making flash games so I don't think they're both are Defunct.
