It truly was a Shawshank redemption

That's good to hear. I really enjoyed Mordor and bought War a few weeks ago. Haven't gotten around to playing it yet (I sat down to play it and forgot you have to install discs and ever since I just keep forgetting about it). Looking forward to it though.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

So Monster Hunter World is great so far, it's a bit hand holdy at the beginning but it's good just wish there was a "I played the beta I ain't no scrub" setting, and some random hunter dude joins you on quests...

NO

ONLY MY CAT DUDE, whom I accidentally made look like Pikachu.

I've only done one proper hunt so far but it's all as good as the beta...just still struggling to read some of the smaller text, hope they add some options to change it. Making it a darker colour would be nice.
Don't understand why these options aren't standard some games offer different schemes for various types of colour blindness and then some just don't.
Inverted text colours would be a Godsend, white text with a cloudy white backdrop is never an easy read.

Anyway yeah fantastic so far, I thought it was killing my PS4 Pro but I had boost mode on and after putting it off and putting framerate mode on it runs smooth as butter.
The pre-order and beta bonuses are nice but thankfully not game breaking.

Not a huge fan of the connectivity, you can play offline but it automatically connects you to a kind of hub so you can easily join folk for quests.
It's pretty cool but I'd like to be able to play in either mode exclusively, it's a very fluid system for joining people though. A little annoying if you're not interested. At least it's not crappy DRM.

Each weapon is one of 14 different types and they all have many variations, pretty awesome amount of variety.
Just hoping for something akin to the Berserker Armour...

Character customization is pretty simple but has a ton of options, not to the likes of Skyrim but it's easy to create a unique character. And there's a lot of common anime looking hairstyles, it'd be easy to make a Levi character from AoT for instance.
Was tempted to make a Guts styled dude but thousands of people will be doing that already.

Can't think of anything that's truly bad about it really, extremely solid game.
Didn't come with a manual, that's it's only true offence.

Also nice to have a game that lets me play the damn game without bombarding me with advertisements for loot boxes and other inane crap.

Started playing it now. While I'm enjoying it, there is a lot of repetitive, borderline boring gameplay. Whereas that was fine with the first one (because it was fresh and iirc shorter), it takes away from the second one. I find myself torn between wanting to collect everything you can and dominate a bunch of orc captains, and just trying to progress the story and finish the game. Still, it's fun for what it is.

Unrelated note: I think a few people here play mentioned they play Fortnite. My younger brother hit a no scope (something like 85m, can't remember exactly) on a player who was in the air after using a launchpad. He's gonna try and send it in to one of the Fortnite YouTube compilation channels.

Ah man, Fortnite is a lot of fun for me even when I'm playing solo. I need to round up some of my friends and get a squad going. Doing the fill option is great and all, but a lot of the times there's a severe lack of communication that would probably be patched up if I was running with friends.

Yeah I was half tempted to forgive it for the lootbox crap and get it on sale but...it just looks kinda dull.
The gameplay seems improved but in a by the numbers sort of way.

In any case the series was still popular, controversy aside, so I hope that paves the way for more regular LOTR games, remakes of the older games would look freaking incredible today.
I'd love some sort of hybrid game where you can play the story as Aragorn, Legolas or whoever but then there's also an RTS section where you can take part in some of the massive battles.
Obviously battles with thousands upon thousands of units on screen in regular third person style is a bit beyond what games can achieve so an RTS section would be awesome.

Sea of Thieves looks pretty cool but honestly I don't see what the fuss is all about, I would probably get it if it was on PS4 but not going to sink in to a depression over it, it looks like it'd get old kinda fast if that's all there is to it.
Plus it's an online multiplayer game so most people are just going to be douchebags and kill you on sight rather than do anything fun or interesting, so if you don't have friends to play with can't see it being a great experience for long.

The final main storyline quest for Shadow of War was absolutely insane, it was so awesome. Shadow of War is definitely much better than Shadow of Mordor and I think that's saying a lot.
So what exactly is the story anyway?

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

I got Darksiders 2 again on ps4. This time I'm playing on Apocolyptic difficulty. Holy s***. The second boss is capable of one shotting me. A mini boss was able to two shot me. Wtf.

Ayy lol. Started getting into Darksiders 2 around the time it was free on PS+. Really liked what I've played of it so far, but darnit my lack of expertise with puzzles has been slowing my progress down dramatically.

What difficulty do you have it on?

Yeah, the puzzles can be a bit tricky I remember. Part of what makes it more entertaining.

I think I have it on normal. Even still, if I act idiotic, I tend to get reamed by the regular enemies. Bosses are still somewhat difficult.

I remember last time I had it, i was on normal. I only made it to that ice boss, forget the name. He made me take a break, then I ended up selling my 360, so I hadn't played it for years. But now Dark Souls made me much more cautious, so I figured hard mode would be fine. Boy was I wrong lmao.

Oh yeah I have that downloaded but haven't tried it, that's the series where you play as Death, War and such isn't it?

I'm not super in to third person action games these days, until another DMC comes out that is, but might give it a try...but then I do have like 100 other PS+ games to play.

If the internet ever dies for like months I am massively overstocked

I've gotten pretty far on Darksiders 2 now. Honestly even on Apocalyptic mode it's mostly a breeze, and I kinda wish I went with Deathinitive instead.

Reminds me of doing the newer DMC on the hardest modes, it was kinda stupid when Devil Trigger stops time and makes enemies fly up in the air for a while.

Compared to the older games version of Hell and Hell mode it was a piece of piss.

Never actually fully completed one of the older ones but DMC was pretty fun, made me feel skilled  I'm sad it wasn't that well received, the combat was superbly fluid. Not exactly the most difficult but it was the first game in a new series, the original DMC is hardly stellar on that end the controls are pure w***.

Started up a new level on Skyrim. It's been a long time since I've played. Haven't played FighterZ at all today, I'll probably go on latre to do the daily quests. Not much to do anymore besides ranked matches since I have most of the trophies.
