Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I'm hoping someone compiles a huge list of cases where it's happened in games to change the ESRB's mind. I have no idea why they never classed it as gambling, literally the only difference is that you get no tangible product out of it.

It's still addictive, you just can't really earn money from it(aside from when you can sell CS:GO skins and stuff)

Pre-Ordered Wolfenstein 2. Can't wait.
Got a £50 Amazon gift card for my birthday so it was totally free essentially :D tempted to get the Deluxe edition but since the game was free if I enjoy it that much I'll just buy the DLC, assuming it adds a substantial amount of stuff.

How did them pesky Nazi's take over America...not my America!

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I didn't get Wolfenstein 2 today, as expected >.>

Amazon says it'll be here tomorrow, it better be <_<
And hopefully not at like 6PM that'd be lame.

Wish it was January already, really can't wait for Monster Hunter: Worlds.
Just hoping there's a good amount of monsters to fight in it, the way they've teased it they make it sound like there's not a whole lot, like 10 maybe.
How many do they normally have? Hopefully there's a lot else it could get repetitive. Obviously more in DLC.

Sooooo many good things from PlayStation at Paris Games Week, gawd.

Intense as expected, who the f*** they tho?

I hope we're not playing as that Asian kid, give us Ellie damn you. Hopefully the first trailer wasn't teasing us and Ellie & Joel are barely in the game that'd be laaame.
Looks great though.

Love that you can play as Aloy.

All these dudes with super strength, seemingly magical abilities and crazy equipment to fight massive monsters with...and then just Aloy with her bow.

This game looks suspiciously good.

It's so sad that the industry is in such a state that you can't trust something visually appealing.
There's another video with some actual gameplay in it and it looks ridiculously good, too good.

As if it could all be scripted stuff and that you don't get to free roam or anything.

Playing more as Peter sounds cool. Also Kingpin? f*** yeah.

Sucker Punch is also doing a Samurai based game, seems like it's kinda grounded rather than like Nioh...that'll be interesting.

Also

FEBRUARY

Too much excite

Picking mine up today. Sadly it doubles as a Christmas gift for me kid so it won't be opened for two months.

...so in CoD WW2...you literally get loot boxes flying out of the sky and landing in front of you, for everyone in the lobby to see what you got.

Very immersive, I'm sure all your granpappies will tell you stories of how boxes full of EPIC loot (but JUST COSTMETIC LOOT) came flying out of the sky to greet them, and everyone was able to bling up before going to war, dazzling them pesky Nazi's with their swag af gear.

Good God, why does anyone defend AAA gaming at this point? I have never been so uninterested in multiplayer until all the s*** that's been pulled this year.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Probably because the vast majority of people playing games aren't really interested in them as an art form of any kind, they just play the games. Those games are popular for a reason, just like radio music is popular for a reason. They're easily accessible, mind-numbing fun that appeals to people e.g. shooting people, or sports. Trying to look into those games for depth and artistry is like looking for it in radio music: it's there in a loose form, and on the odd occasion there's a song/game that is both accessible and has something to it, but mostly it's just easy-to-please stuff that reaches a wide audience.

Just as music fans often have to look past the radio in searching for new music that means something to them, I imagine it's best for gamers to do the same thing with AAA games.

Yeah but when they present themselves as "We're going back to our roots, good old hardcore wartime CoD!" and then have magic flying crates that give you loot in the middle of an historical war, it's just kind of stupid really.

Shouldn't thrust that nonsense in to such an important setting, whilst also trying to be somewhat accurate to the time.

Imagine people made a documentary about WW2 and acted out various moments but just had people in modern clothes doing it, rather jarring.

I'm just glad indie devs are taking it upon themselves to make good games that don't do all this crap.
They were already far more imaginative and well made before, now they stand out even more and it's clear they want to make a game first, rather than just a money machine.

Just as music fans often have to look past the radio in searching for new music that means something to them, I imagine it's best for gamers to do the same thing with AAA games.
They're very different mediums, though. Let's start with music:

You can listen to the radio without throwing away large amounts of time or money. Music on the radio is free, and most songs only last 2-3 minutes. If you don't like what you're hearing, you can instantly switch to a different channel for a better experience. Artists receive money from album sales and shows. Who buys those albums and goes to those shows? People who have already heard that artist's music and enjoy them. There's no bait and switch in the music industry. Full songs are released on the radio before you ever have to make a decision on spending your money.

Video games, on the other hand, are advertised and sold quite differently. AAA games are advertised as something they aren't. You can't just sit down and play a video game in full before you make a purchase. You're given a CG trailer (often superior to the product you're eventually sold) and a gameplay trailer that usually isn't representative of natural gameplay. You have to base your decision around that, which is why so many fans are furious when they're lied to and mislead. You'd think they'd learn, but they just want the game that was promised, that they got so excited for. You can't exactly blame them.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I'm feeling like a crash is coming, for AAA's only. Not gonna cry about it.

The only ones that ever make an effort are ones that focus on expansive single player games, ones that actually try to make a solid product.

Those are fine but the rest of them are quite blatantly money grabbing bastards that make a mockery of customers and think that's a wise choice.
You can only go so far before s*** comes right back at you.

Quite excited really, I'd love for all the multiplayer focused AAA publishers to die and for great studios like Ninja Theory to take the helm and bring everyone the great games they want.

Meanwhile companies like EA will have to scrabble around on the floor picking up scraps, begging for attention.

I'm just glad there still are some AAA's that make the effort, they may earn less money but respect and customer adoration is far more valuable.
