I'm giving it a pass now, going pretty hard on the loot box thing. Crap needs to stop. They say you can only buy them with in game money but how long will that last, basically every time a publisher says that within weeks they go back on their word. Can they just not? Sick of games being made stupidly grindy so you feel forced in to buying loot boxes to make progress at a decent pace. Still loving Dragons Dogma myself, I'm not remotely sad I never got Shadow of War. DD cost me £19.99 and it has far more content despite being like 5 years old and from last gen. Kinda pathetic really. |

Pre-ordered the Deluxe Version. I'm not complaining, since I didn't even pay for it lol. 19 years old and I can still convince my mom to buy games for me. |

Lol I have to convince mine not to because I like to "own" every game I have. Not that I'll refuse a gift. I'm stumped on what else to get this year now, I was interested in Battlefront 2 but...eh. More crappy loot box stuff which would be somewhat bearable but overall the game just seems...kinda boring? I don't like how fast paced it is compared to old Battlefront. Watching Droids jump about like kids with ADHD just seems kinda silly, it seems less like they're robots and more like they're just a skin on a human character. I get that they are but slow regular movement feels so much more real. None of the movies have droids or soldiers flipping about the battlefield like ninja's. I'm so mad that Monster Hunter: Worlds isn't out until January, I want it now dammit. Suddenly I'm very interested in killing big monsters in games. |

I saw that they took the PS4 version of Monster Hunter off of Amazon a few weeks ago. I assumed that meant it either got canned or pushed back. Maybe I'm wrong. |

I do think it's important to note that the "loot box" in origins is just a money sink. It's meant for spending excess money you'd usually have in the AC games. Horizon Zero Dawn had it, Diablo had it, Borderlands has it with its vendors. Nothing but another thing to do near the end of the game |

Downloaded MGSV on PS4 earlier today. I had it beat on PS3 but with a free copy available on the network I leaped on it. Basically a sleeker looking copy and couldn't pass that up. Might give it another playthrough in the near future. |

Oh I don't believe that for a second honestly, this is Ubisoft. They're not quite as bad as Activision but I wouldn't put it past them to release a bunch of "EPIC" weapons in to the mix and charge real money or a lot more of the special currency for the boxes. It's such a shame, maybe it won't happen but they took an extra year to make the game and that was a promising turn...but they still have to attempt to infest it with corporate BS. Anyone picking up Elex? I totally forgot it was coming out. Based on reviews not 100% convinced but a mix of Fallout, Skyrim and Mass Effect does seem pretty cool. If it's not somewhat dark I'll probably give it a miss, the concept is pretty cool anyway. |

Looking to add some new games to Steam soon. This is the Police, Death Road to Canada and possibly the new South Park game although I'll probably wait for it to go down in price. I've already ordered the Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga remaster for 3DS. |

I'm so glad YouTubers exist because there's so many games out there like This Is The Police that I find interesting, but know that I wouldn't actually enjoy playing them. Saves a ton of money and you still get to enjoy the story 'n stuff. I'm verging on opening Total War:Warhammer and trying the tutorial, it's a big game to tackle and I'm pretty confident my resolution for it will be absolute garbage. Don't want to have to use binoculars to read the screen. Never can tell with a PC+TV set up, if you change the resolution typically the UI becomes completely stupid. Mine always wants to go in 1920x1080 but that just makes text microscopic from the couch. |

Started on Bioshock Infinite. It's strange, almost a completely different game than the previous two, to the extent that I don't really see why they didn't just call it something else (although it's early so I haven't seen how the story connects). It's OK, but I do prefer the first two. Also, I'm gonna trade in FIFA 18 and use it to get some money off of WWE 2K18. I'm not really enjoying FIFA, despite the demo being really good. Not sure what changed, if anything, but it's just almost impossible to defend properly, even on lower difficulties. I don't like that I'm pretty much trading the game in because I'm bad at it, but I just don't have the drive to keep playing a game I'm not enjoying just to get better. Might as well trade it in while I still get a fair chunk of change back and try a different game. |

I never really got in to the first two, loved Infinite. The scenery and how disjointed it is from the events and themes of the game was just gorgeous. You walk in that church and think "Wow, this is quite genuinely beautiful" Then you get freakin' drowned. Slowly but quite consistently going off multiplayer games. All the good, as in well made, games are way to infested with this micro-transaction BS now. To the point where Activision has patented a matchmaking system that pairs you with people who have items bought with micro-transactions in the attempt to make you think "Wow, their gear looks really cool I want to buy that!" and clamber towards one of those cold, dry udders. Matchmake in a logical way based on skill to make a balanced team? No. Matchmake based on SHINY. SHINY = fun Good God, AAA gaming is a mess now. The worst thing is that they don't even make better games, if all that production value actually amounted to quality games maybe it'd be worth it but AAA games are often the most broken ones which is ludicrous. |

Yeah, introducing in-game currency was a terrible move for gamers. Brilliant move for the creators because it must line their pockets tenfold, but yeah, sucks for us. I even heard somewhere that things like the pack openings on FIFA, where you use in-game currency to open a pack with random objects inside, is akin to gambling, which is worrying considering there are many young gamers doing so. I saw that first-hand with my brother who amassed a lot of FIFA coins and ended up wasting it all opening packs and is now annoyed at himself for doing so. It's not goo when you have 16 year olds feeling the same way gamblers do about wasting 'money' (not real money, but could breed a habit that extends into real money). |

Yep. It's not legally gambling but there is virtually no difference...only that there's no real age limit. You can't legally gamble at 15 but you can legally have a bank card and money to waste on loot boxes, hoping you get your exotic and legendary loot...only to get duplicates of crap you don't like. Then you spend more for another chance. Crap no go, maybe next time. How is it not gambling. If anything it's more scummy because of the amount of children who play games, who many games are very clearly marketed towards these days. All the funny emotes and flashy skins in games like CoD sure as heck aren't for 30 year olds. They know damn well who plays their games. It's sad to watch something you love become so corrupt. At least there will always be that huge core that loves single player games and appreciates indie games for not trying to milk their wallets. When it gets to the point where publishers are no longer needed gaming should be back on track. |

Yeah, whether it's legally gambling or not, whatever it is is still wrong. Especially when you have kids racking up large sums of money on their parent's credit/debit cards. |
