I'm the same way. I look for a good story in a game but other than that I don't really have a preference. I know that I definitely don't prefer straight up shooters, but that's about it.

Bewbs, you should definitely check out Telltale's version of Borderlands. I got a huge kick out of it. It's so much fun.

i liked 2 and brotherhood and those were great to me.

the rest all look the same but there arent many games that interest me at all anymore so i figured i'll go back and finish off a series i never completed
2 and Brotherhood were great, but I think the first one tops them, if only for the story and setting. Though, the future stuff was always terrible.

The horse was a bit stiffer to control, and the time permitted to perform a counter attack was drastically tighter, both of which are pluses. They had a bit more power as a result. And though there was far less freedom in what you could do in just about every aspect, not every assassination target or guard position felt like a scripted scenario with a very obvious right way of doing it, and there wasn't pointless items just being there for the sake of it, but everything you could use you did use. When you pulled off something interesting or flawlessly it felt like it was because you did it.

3 was awful, and I haven't played any others.

Honestly, I thought that the first Assassin's Creed was one of the worst games I'd played in a long time when I tried to play it. I couldn't get through it because it was so repetitive.

what do you mean pre ac unity? as in unity onwards is more open ended than the games before it?
Sorry it took a while, but yes.

AC Unity introduced "black box missions" which basically made it to where you could kill your target in multiple ways (some even with interactive/unique assassinations)
no problem

so is unity better than the others in your opinion or vice versa?
Still vice versa, but in terms of gameplay, unity DID introduce some interesting ideas

I only want two more Master System games but they're £40 each :(

Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd in Miracle World.

Emmeth, you wanna team up sometime? I'd gladly start Wowing again if I actually knew someone else with the game. And we're both on Euro servers which makes a change. Everyone else I knew plays on US ones and Blizzard is so lame they don't allow people to use whatever countries they choose.
Sure. I started out yesterday though so I'm actually a bit up in level. Level 23 currently.

Not a problem. It's super easy to reach level 100 these days.

You should let me know what server you are on. I'm going to reinstall it right now then.

It was damn repetitive, but it remained interesting, I thought. Well, except for the future stuff.

Still, I think the later games are every bit as repetitive, and worse for being more scripted in how you're meant to approach. They may have added more variety of things to do, but they're barely any different and you're still doing them over and over again.

Then again, all games are essentially repetitive, and I guess for me it's not about whether I'm going to be doing the same thing over and over again, but whether that same thing remains interesting in some way. For Assassin's Creed it was the aesthetic and story. I ate that historically religious crap up during the first game.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Never ever cared for the future stuff in the AC games.

Like...it's cool but...you never really learn anything that matters. Oh a 5 minute cutscene about some stuff you have to reason to care about at the end of each game, yeah whatevs let me stab people again please.

2 was eeeeasiy the best one I'd say, coincidentally probably the easiest to 100% :D

I wonder if they actually have any plans on stopping the series?

If there's ever one properly set in WW1/WW2 that looks decent I might give it a bash again.

They're taking a break on it this year to "re-evaluate the series".

Anyways, what I find funny though is the more ambitious AC games (gameplay wise, such as the first Ac, ac3, and Ac unity) get heavily criticized, then the sequel that follows it (ac2 and black flag) get critical acclaim

Yeah it's a weird cycle lol 3 was considered meh but then 4 OMG NAVAL COMBAT

I wonder if this "re-evaluating" can be roughly translated to "taking longer to make the same thing again so that more hype builds up"
