You can see how quickly you can beat the game with the rocket launcher and you can use it to better learn the game. Basically speedruns are all that's left once you've beaten the game on hard with just a knife

No Man's Sky is getting an absurd amount of negativity. Obviously the game won't be as good when they start overhyping it that much. Leave it alone, it's the first of its kind so naturally there's a lot of room for improvement.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yeah it's ridiculous. It's an indie game, people have been expecting WAY too much from a team of like 12 developers.

2 people have "met" in it but they couldn't actually see each other so now loads of people are proclaiming that "the multiplayer is a lie" and that the devs basically just teased that you might meet other folk.

But these people that "met" while on the same planet and in the same place, were there at different times.
So it seems fairly obvious there's some sort of syncing issue there, rather than a full blown conspiracy.

It's a whole God damn universe and the game has been out like 2 days now, it's ridiculous to expect it to all sync correctly heck most games have severe server issues on launch, even ones that aren't as hyped as NMS.

It's a shame that Hello Games basically have to apologize for all this even though it's just people being ignorant dickbags who will then feel as though they were right to jump on it, despite not knowing what they're talking about.

And there's even people comparing it to Minecraft lol

I actually kind of think of it that way, like it's the next stage up.

Hopefully they add in a lot more social featurey stuff. That goes against the concept of the game but I think like a year from now when everyone has experienced what it has to offer then the magic will have been long gone.

In a way that is like Minecraft, it has an ending and you can complete it but nobody really cares they have fun doing other stuff. Hopefully they cater to that 'cause they game has huge potential for other things.

So many servers in Minecraft with different games people can play, the same thing but in NMS would be...just...insane. If people could host their own servers that all function within the cloud it'd be a ludicrously fun game to mess with.
Like maybe you could warp to the racing part of the universe, where there's organized race planets where people have hollowed out whole planets in to massive race tracks.

Of course that's a ridiculous amount of data to store so lord knows how that would work.

Yeah, but there's a clear difference. No Man's Sky is a universe with trillions of planets, Minecraft's like an island made out of lego blocks in comparison.

Yeah they're very different but still, I hope it does become like Minecraft people are pretty underwhelmed though.

It would be a good idea for them business wise to make it open to people making games out of it, since they could still buy skins and such.

Still not got my copy, paid for one day delivery too...
Might come with a courier but Amazon almost always give me games late, if it doesn't come today probably my last game from them.

Although I'm moving house might need to check if it's different there first.

Not sure why people need to violently proclaim it's "boring! All you do is aimlessly explore!"

Yeah but...it is possible for people to enjoy that...

I've not played it or read any reviews but if the game is bad, then the game is bad. You can't expect people not to criticize something for its flaws just because it's'not so different from other games released.

On an unrelated note Totally Accurate Battle Simulator looks like it'll be pretty fun for an hour or so.

You know, just to be sure, what does No Man's Sky play like?

And I've heard the console version has horribad FoV, for anyone who bought it on console, is that true?

And I'm not surprised it's got a negative reception, they were really sparse on details in general and despite that it got one of the largest hype machines I've ever seen, like Undertale is the only one I've seen with as much hype and it got compared to Deadpool.

All I know is that it runs great on PS4, only like 5gb too.

And there's a big difference between a game being bad and a game being called bad because people made it out to be something it's not and are butthurt that it's not what they decided it is.

It's like saying a visual novel is s*** because you thought it would be an RPG.

I found they gave plenty details to give people an accurate enough impression of what it would be like, there's been loads of streams and demonstrations. Obviously people expect more than shown and there is but plenty seem to have ridiculous expectations about what there should be.

Like I've seen people question why there aren't story quests...yeah 'cause they're going to write stories for several quintillion planets and multitudes of alien species.
If they marketed it as "Elder Scrolls in space" fair enough but they didn't.

Quite liking No Man's Sky so far, aside from the pop in the visuals are nice.

I love the way things are generated, it's all random but it still looks like it was designed like you can come across massive caves with stalactites, glowing mushrooms and stuff and it looks gorgeous like you're just playing a designed level.

Really hope they open the game up to modding it has so much potential.

Though sadly PS4 probably won't see any of that.

I agree with people that the price is a bit too steep though, £30 at best. While technically unlimited content it is almost 100% randomly generated.

I've seen gameplay and oh my god that FoV is absolutely atrocious... If COD on consoles is cramped, this is like someone got the jaws of life and crushed down the view as much as possible. Feel like a cyclops.

Yeah it's kinda small, I just pretend that it and the pop-in is the result of some kind of visor you're wearing restricting your vision.

I don't get why we never get FOV sliders on console, not being able to change graphics quality I understand but why not FOV?

The pop-in is whatever, it's to be expected... but that FoV... ugh.
