I can kind of see why turn based RPG's have faded out of popularity. The grindyness can get so boring in them. It takes forever to get anything done and when there's massive jumps between enemies it becomes such a chore.

Aside from Real Time I like the Tales Of series battle system not sure what it's called but it's a lot more interesting to play. Tons of awesome combos to pull off with the set amount of movements you get.

Though it is hard to beat awesome magic animations in turn based games.

I really hope FFVIIR doesn't ruin summons. Not sure what FFXV's are like but I think 13's way was lame.
So much cooler when you summon an Eidolon to do some mad s***, like Bahumut Zero nuking your enemy from orbit.
Kupo, right here, Kupo.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

That was pretty awesome.

I have high hopes for Bahamut Zero then...

Imagine that but full HD, modern graphics...
4K even.

I hope to God they get the Advent Children cast for the voice acting, generally the English dubs in these games suuuuuck.

Square Enix are renowned for bad English voice acting.

That goes for nearly all japanese games.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Damn Shining Force CD was really short. Not even as long as the first one. You'd think a CD based game would have a lot more content. The graphics and music weren't even that much better than the second game so it's not a question of capacity. Also they sequel baited at the end so that's probably a lot to do with it. Of course the Sega CD failed so we never got it.

I want to play Shining Force III on the Saturn but... damn that's not aged well.

I find the Tales Of games generally have pretty good ones, even though the well is fairly dry for dub VA's and a lot of them are in almost every game.

Metal Gear Solid is the only Japanese series I can think of that has fairly seamless English dubbing as well as a good cast.

I want to play Ys I but I can't get through Ys Origin. I have this thing where I need to play a series through from the beginning and in storyline order if it can be helped. Which kind of sucks because Ys Origin is one of the weakest in the series. Thankfully it's also the shortest.

I expected people to use the Persona games as a source of good english dubbing in japanese games. I've heard those are good.

Best dub in recent memory that I recall certainly, yeah. Aside from those it is difficult to think of good dubs off the top of my head.

I'm not sure on MGS. Snake is uh... well I haven't played Phantom Pain (and have no intention to because f*** Konami) but David Hayter had uh.... a very straightforward and flat way of being Snake.

Uh I broke my arm let me just be all cool and "EYACHEYACH"

Yeah that's one reason why I didn't mind Kiefer Sutherland taking the role. But his voice still fit the character and I can't really think of any that feel out of place.

Whereas in other Japanese games they get like the squeakiest female VA's ever to do women and it's just so jarring on the ears. Laura Bailey seems to be in everything, same with Troy Baker because they're some of the only decent ones.

And yeah continue to not play Phantom Pain, you are not missing anything.
It's a shame because Kiefer Sutherland was actually good in the role...just he got like 5 lines in the whole game other than the optional audio tapes, where his contribution was actually great.
I'm still depressed how things ended.

Now Konami want to reduce MGS to f***ing pachinko machines.

Been getting back into Ys Origin. I remember there being a point where I just did not have a clue where to go next. Don't think I'm far off it either. Can't wait to beat it so I can move onto the far superior Ys I.

Oh yeah if anyone plays I Am Setsuna make sure you knew what you were doing when you stopped because nobody in the game tells you what to do again

Half the time it's vaguely pretty much "We have to go find this person!" so if you stop for half a day remembering who the f*** that person is can be a damn hard challenge.
Harder than the whole game really.

Turns out Shining Force CD has another three scenarios that I didn't know how to access. Apparently you have to delete your save file after you beat each scenario and then you get the option to choose the next one. I wondered why it was so short.
